Title: new vans won't fit in my garage
Post by: lee_dewing on November 19, 2015, 08:31:41 am
Currently have ford escort 75 van.

Don't know for sure will have measure up at weekend but newer vans sure won't fit in my up and over garage.

It is the common one with canopy door.

I have my eye on Citroën berlingo newer shape without a ladder rack it may fit in my garage.
With ladder rack I'd say no.

Anyone have same garage as me and exceptable size van for wfp?

Parking is a real issue where I live I go in garage, van family car goes outside.

We are lease hold and have communal car park my garage is about 50metres from our property in a block of 4 garages.

There is no electricity in garages and no way of doing that either as was thinking of a different garage door but would guess £1500 supplied fitted and think roller door would be electric.

So anyone have experience of my dilemma?

This is one of the reasons I have clutched onto current van.

Thanks lee.

Good Morning,

We have a few customers with standard pre-fab style garages who fit the new Ford Connect into them (long wheel base version as well).

Hope that helps!

Thanks Grippa tank.
I will check that out.

Wondering if that's with or without roof rack?

Thanks.
Lee.

Your very welcome!

The customer i am thinking of has a roof rack with roller guide on it. Its a tight fit, but does fit, and he parks the vehicle in the garage every night.

When you come to looking at the new van - we can offer customers upto 30% off on Brand New Fords, so this might help you your purchase?

Hi  Lee,

Thanks for your question.

This discount is on the vans only - but they often will combine these terms we have with Ford with the dealerships own deals, so it often work out to be very competitive.

We do indeed offer Speedliner, and this can be included as part of the vehicle leasing or purchased separately.

If you need prices - just drop us a line via the website!

I get the tape measure out tomorrow morning, Sean.

I'm 6 ft tall when up and over canopy door is open it nearly touches my head.

I bet you have a roller garage door.
Lot more clearance.

I'll take a picture tomorrow and upload it also a picture worth a thousand words.

Basically measure up and get van specs.

I think it would be wise to rent a berlingo for a couple of days to see if I like it and wether it goes in the garage.
But rentals never seem to have a roof rack.

Like the idea of new shape berlingo as it has 3 seats in front or 2 ½ really but my 10 yr olds a tiddler.

Most vans won't go into garages because the up and over doors are too low.

In fact most cars with bee sting aerials also won't go in unless you unscrew the aerial.

Just a rough figure of what a new Transit costs that's all. I don't need one just curious what a new van costs these days.

If your buying new, get them to bring one round, make sure you can park it up. Remember you can buy new garage doors that open like barn doors.
I had a demo van same as I wanted to buy driven round and parked in the garage before I committed to buying .

Yes its a roller door Lee I think it opens to about 7ft, the Dispatch is 1942mm or 6ft 5 inches, have a look on Ebay as you can
get some cheap roller doors that might do but even if you get one made they don't cost the earth and don't need to be electric, mine isn't.

Thanks Sean.
Was trying to find that out on the net, was worried would have to be electric for roller door.

No electric in garage.
Also I'd better contact powers that be as I'm lease hold.
Shouldn't be a problem I hope.

What make is your garage door, cardale etc?

Mine was made by Garage Door Systems its just a steel non insulated manual roller door, have had it for around 20
years and it does the job.
