Title: Woolsafe
Post by: Bob Robertson on May 12, 2006, 09:59:44 pm
Can anyone explain why you have to be in business for 5 years to become woolsafe certified  ??? Why don't they let people be trained properly from the start ? just seems a bit strange to me that they want you to be working on wool carpets for 5 years and then be trained. If i am still in business after 5 years I don't think I would want to give them any money for training .

From woolsafe web site .

In 1998 The WOOLSAFE Organisation launched an accreditation scheme for professional carpet cleaning companies, called the WOOLSAFE Certified Operators programme, to counter unqualified cleaners who give the carpet cleaning industry a bad name.

Independent carpet cleaning companies, franchisees and in-house carpet cleaning contractors can become WOOLSAFE Certified Operators.

They must be fully trained in all carpet cleaning techniques, have been in business continuously for a period of at least 5 years and be a member of a recognised professional or trade association related to the cleaning industry. They must attend a WOOLSAFE training course, pass the exit exam and meet other requirements relating to their business and professional associations

Haven’t got the foggiest, wife puts a lot wool garments in her new washing machine it got 1001 programs and can be updated via laptop!  Has any one seen a sheep dipped? Poor blighters then we walk on then with out a care in the world? A branded t-shirt pride and joy, still goes in the washing machine, ironing make the difference

Think I will give a miss to this one, by the way like your web site bit over qualified (We take pride in the personalised quality service that we offer to our customers) ;D ;D

I have to agree, surely it would be better to train and approve people at the earliest opportunity.  After 5 years you are well established, should know what you are doing  and have a good customer base, so there is little or no need for any further approval.
