Title: Green Felt tip pen ?
Post by: davetherave on November 17, 2015, 05:05:53 pm
We did a carpet today that had big green patches of where a childs felt tip pen had leaked.

We were using split x mixed with orange x, which did fade it substantially.

If you wanted to get rid of the stain entirely would you need something like chemspec dyegone, or prochem ink solv?

I have always found pog the answer , be prepared to spend a fair amount of time and it will cover a white towel.

I,m always amazed just how much ink can keep coming out ,even on the smallest of spots.

I had a load lipstick stains on a wool last week.
The 2 main stains, which weren't that big although one was quite thick, took 2 hours to remove using POG.
It just kept getting lighter and lighter as I applied, blotted and extracted  but took an age to disappear.
Kept seeing it all the rest of the day I'd stared at it that long.

Out of interest how do you price such a job as that where you know you might not be entirely successful but at the same time the job will take a long time?

Problem with felt pens is that the carpet fibres act as a wick. What can be a tiny spot on the surface can be huge down in the carpet base.

Told her what the problem with it might be and she wanted the small room it occurred in cleaning so told her the price would be at least £X  and maybe more as it was time dependant.
This was a very rich lady but also a common sense type lady and she agreed, she just wanted rid of it and was well pleased when I finished.
We're talking 6/7 bedroom detached, electronic gates and 100 metre drive.

Thanks! We do something similar. It obviously makes a difference when dealing with clients who are not counting the pennies who somehow want you to work faster and still do a better job.
