why oh why do some people make window cleaning hard work for them selves ? taking people to court over a few quid or go to all the effort of terms and conditions ,and all the rest of it .do the job get paid off you go. I only go to 2 cleanes, have a polite word a bout payment if that fails dump replace with 2.keep it simple no hassel life is to short .just an observation

That's pretty much the way I do things too ;D
-
Depends how much you're owed.
-
that's true but why let it build up its beyond me why people let accounts get so large in the first place alarm bells should start to ring after a couple of excuses .or am I missing something .this is where I get shot down in flames ;D
-
I'm owed over £300 on one job (cleaned twice) might dump it but won't be ignoring it.
-
We do many cleans between £250 and £1000. Some comercial some domestic. If they dont pay should I ignore them? I took a £46 million pound lottery winner to court once and won (about £450 if I remember corrrectly)
-
always an exception to the rule ;D
-
We got to have T & C's for our customers as we joined The Buy With Confidence Scheme.

i wish i had cleaning payments coming in over the £100 mark.
the most expensive house i clean is £25.
people dont like parting with there cash up here
after 2 cleans i stop, ill just pop a reminder in door when cleaning in area again.
i make sure all there neighbours hear about it. ;D

Depends what type of work you do.
I do a fair it of commercial I have two weekly jobs one does not pay till it gets to about 4 invoices that are due ,the other normally gets to 60 days on invoice sent then pays. It's very easy for these things to mount up .if I was to dump or take to court late payers I would probably lose half my work.
Don't get me wrong not all are bad payers and I charge them enough for the inconvenience.if you have done the work and given plenty of chances then the only option is court in some cases.

Sometimes the laid back approach to window cleaning is why debts get so high. I've had people owing 10 - 12 cleans because I couldn't be bothered chasing it up but when it came to cleaning the next time round I just cleaned again because it didn't take that much extra effort, say if I'm doing a few houses in the street already. Sometimes it takes more effort or balls to chase up payment or cancel them if they don't pay after 2 cleans.

10 - 12 cleans is madness :o..
I go to 2 cleans that's it..then I turn up and knock at the door and it's 1 of 2 options Go Cardless or dumped ;D

We can't all be perfect ::)roll ::)roll ::)roll

Sometimes it's a case of using up 30 minutes to drive to a house, knock, find no one in and drive home or just clean again when in street and put another ticket in. The odd occasion I've been stitched up but sometimes it's nice getting a beefy cheque through the post or a bacs payment.
-
ive got a slip printed up for that reason. sorry I have missed you please leave payment of what ever the amount is how may cleans owed .then the day of collection and where to put it ie under plant pot etc.works nearly every time for me. ive started to get a bit ruthless some just get the flick ;D
-
Believe me as somebody who's been there you never win taking somebody to court over payment, you may get what
your owed but will never get back the cost of the time and stress that you will have invested in chasing it.
In domestic work there is no excuse for letting payments build up on a regular basis unless you have agreed to it with the
customer.
-
most of my custys blow a fuse if they think they owe for 2 cleanes the tight gets
-
Sounds to me you've ended up with the dregs as customers what no one wants . Can't remember the last time I got stitched up, or had to drop a custy for non payment . And I let some custys go a long time , once a year is not unusual for some of mine . A lot like to straighten up in December with a big tip . ;D

Dave you have it by the back end again. The true question is WHY DO CUSTOMERS THINK THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A SERVICE RENDERED. Let`s face facts they see us as lowly paid, so why in Gods name rob the lowly pay worker.

Just done the whole court process and CCJ thing through thomas higgins, easy peasy. Would easily do it again.
It's great that you can charge compensation as well.

Used to get stressed over a commercial job paying when they felt like it ,so I slapped 10%to price now I don't care always get the money in the end but no stress .
-
late payments are i very small percentage of my round.i usually write off less than £100 year on year.(ive currently wrote off £6 this year but that will rise slightly methinks)
i used to get stressed out years ago when i was owed £150-£200 due to needing the money (living hand to mouth )but now my debt list is rarely below £500 at anyone time.
it doesnt bother me at all now as i know ill get my money eventually.
plenty of customers pay cash/cheque/BACS on day of clean or a few days after so cashflow is really good.
collecting once a week on a monday also helps on certain compact domestic work.
text reminders get sent out 14 days after clean if no payment for large domestic BACS customers, others i let it build up to 3 cleans before leaving an invoice or statement of account.
the odd customer will pay me 6 months to a year IN ADVANCE and i have a few who pay by standing order.
some commercial will pay me 30 days after clean but its not large amounts(usually under £200)
i dont have any sub contract commercial work and i dont want any so ill never get stung by more than a few quid here and there.
