Just had delivery of a 350L upright Wydale tank today. Being new to water tanks, (having used 25L barrels up to now), I was under the impression that there would be some kind of honeycomb baffling inside the tank but instead there is only a single baffle (the vertical hole in the middle of the tank).
Is this single baffle OK when it comes to driving with say 3/4 of a tank of water? Or should I buy some baffle balls or something to make the load more stable when driving?

Should be ok, it's not a big tank, you may notice a little slosh at 3/4 full and 3/4 empty

Thanks Smudger - I'll see how I go.

nope the wydale tanks are unbaffled, the mold is there to strengthen the tank,
I used to have a 350l upright and it was horrible to have in the van, was like driving a boat, there just cheap rubbish tbh

Had the 400l upright tank its got 2 of these baffles and I have not felt any effects of the water sloshing about

+1 I'm glad I'm not the only one.
For the rest of you boy racers springs to mind ;D

This is going to sound really dull I know,
but what is the 'baffle' in a baffled tank?
Is it the hole/s in the moulding?

And what does it do?

Yes the holes slots are a baffle of sorts, a baffle is to stop water surge - no water surge means a stable load.
The best tanks are the d shaped ones that contain dozens of tubes ( these are proper baffles ) you can also fill the tank with baffle balls or irrigation pipe - these also eliminate water movement

I think some people just drive too fast , you'll be fine mate, just be aware of what's in the back of your van - don't take corners too sharp, don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine .youll find it a lot easier and quicker than your barrels as you won't have to run back to your van to see if your waters running out! 👍

Thanks all for your feedback. I'm not a boy racer anymore, (sold the Ford Capri & furry dice over 20 years ago...).
So if I did decide to add my own baffles I guess the flexible perforated irrigation pipe would be a good option ....

ive got a 500L upright wydale tank in a frame in my van.its fine.just drive carefully(which you always should with half a ton of water behind you!) ;D

As smudger says 350 ltr is not enough to give you trouble,I had a 500 ltr one and it was a smoother ride across the channel lol
