Title: Help with pricing commercial
Post by: The Fox on May 11, 2006, 03:40:56 pm
Had a phone call today asking if I would be interested in putting a quote in for this building

inside & out every month on a sub contract bases. (WFP outside)

Since I have never done any commercial could you give me some indication on the price? Also a rough idea on how long it will take.

Also what documentation will I need to submit a bid? I don’t want to make my self out to be a total fool.

Any help would be appreciated

Kevin

is it just the 30 windows and the one door in total?

if you worked it a £1 a window (as they look largish) it would be £31 outside and £31 inside = £62 per month - say £65 to round up.

you will need to send in a risk assessment, method statement and i always send in a photocopy of my liability insurance as a minimum.

do you know what they are paying at the minute for the w/c of this building??? as they my pay £50 all in and you would seem high...or they may be happy with £80 p/m and you'll do yourself no justice! tought one.

timewise 30 windows outside WFP 30 mins max, inside trad.....30 / 80 mins depends how fast you are.....

just to clarify the above was not what i would charge but a formula if you were happy with £1 a window (each side)

For commercial I always work on a basis of £2 for the outside of a window and £2.50 - £3 for the insides depending how much junk there is to move inside to get at the windows.

Don't under-sell yourself on commercial work - You can get some NICE little earners. I have an office that I do once every 12 weeks which is similar to this one inside and out... Takes me and hour and a half and I charge £110 for it!

Hope that helps.

So the documents I will need are

Risk assessment
Method statement
Liability insurance

What is a method statement?

I assume it is all put into a folder with price, payment terms and the above documents and send it of.
If anyone could Email me some samples to give me an idea of format I would be grateful. Or point me in the write direction. As I said this is new territory for me. It will be good practice and I will know what to do next time Evan if I don’t get this job.

As far has pricing is concerned I was thinking of £1 for downstairs and £1.50 upstairs. I know they have had 1 quote but was so high, that they wouldn’t submit it to the client.

The prices quoted on here have got me thinking. :-\

A method statement is a procedure that you work to. ie What you will do, how you will do it, reference your risk assessment that you will follow.
I  will forward what I have to you.

Good luck
