Title: Aldi 250bar Pressure washer
Post by: Azura on October 17, 2015, 03:14:27 pm
From Thursday Aldi are selling a (claimed) 250 bar / 9.3lm petrol pressure washer...

Question is, are they any good out on site for large area power washing buildings, block paving etc, or is it just a diy bit of kit ?

cheers.

I have one from last year. They are ok, mine is still starting on the first pull after about 30/40 hours use, so I haven't been using it industrially. It is useless if you want to draw from a barrel, it's just not up to it. It's also useless if you want to clean driveways. I use it as a light machine I can easily lift in and out of the van when I'm doing guttering/soffit/fascia washing. With the 3 year warranty you're safe enough. If mine lasts 3 years of occasional use I'll be more than happy.

However, I wouldn't be happy if this was my only machine. I do have the luxury of having another machine to hand should this one pack up mid job.

9.3 litre per min should tell you everything you need to know.

A good pressure washer  needs flow rate and bar - therefore a 200 BAR pressure washer with 15ltr per min flow rate would be much better.

Using 9.3 ltr per min would be slow hard work

Now that's a tricky one is it not...They would seem great if you know nothing about pressure washing but crap if you do.
Still for the price it's cheaper than a diy electric karcher I suppose  and has no lead to trip over. That's not all as when it breaks you can use it as a door stop. ..3 years warrantee my arse  ;D

At the end of the day it depends what you want doesn't it?

I do know about pressure washing and I know what is good and what isn't but it is like everything else if you are joe public and you only want to use it once a year then it will probably be OK but if you want to use it a couple of times a day 5 days a week then leave well alone and go to Ben for a decent one.

When we are removing floors or adding to them we use a Hilti that cost over £1500 and a Metabo that cost over £800 but I have seen people doing the same work with a £49.95 breaker from B&Poo as well.  We will home with our feet up 6 hours before they are half way through but if they only do it now and again I can understand that they don't want to invest in the kit.

When we restore and polish floors we use all Klindex equipment appropriate to the size of the job but there again there are those that are happy with a Victor and a couple of Cheetah pucks!

The same goes for anything!

You defo get what you pay for in this world but still diy bods spending 199.99 and it breaks after 3-5 uses as mentioned in the 2 negative reviews sounds to me that it doesn't matter what you want to use it for it's not going to last very long.

We seem to go through a lot of household vacuums and I mean only used for the house. Every time Argos try's to sell the 3 year warranty. No thanks I say as it probably won't last the year, cue the funny looks.
The latest Vax purchased in March was returned last week as something fell apart around the motor followed by some smoke! Which was a shame as it was the best I've had in years.
Wifey says to me "You bought it in MARCH" me - "SO".... Wifey - "Oh you need to phone Vax"! Me - No it's faulty I know my rights. Wifey - "Not when it says this at the bottom of the receipt"
Now I never looked at the bottom of the receipt and I got my new Vax 5 minutes later and truth be told I am not up to speed on the rights either!
Aldi and Lidil aren't exactly known for there customer service and I'm sure there service elsewhere is as poop as it is in Glasgow.
Long and very boring story! Point is I wouldn't be confident in getting anywhere marching into Aldi with the faulty machine under my arm after 6 months!

But it is the same with everything isn't it.  Firstly I wouldn't touch a Vax with a bargepole.  Buy yourself a Sebo or a Lindhaus if you want a decent Vac at home.  The fact however remains that if a warranty is offered they have to honour it regardless if they are Ali,  Lidl or even Harrods it makes no odds.

Everything I buy I tape the receipt to the electrical cord or directly to the item,  clothes I put the receipt into my 'receipt drawer' they expect you to lose the receipt and just chuck an item away

I often take things back that have not lived up to their promise, be firm and usually you get something, clothes that don't wash well is my biggest pet hate, 'they shrink they go back' even if its 11 months later.... I might have only worn it twice.

If aldi  offer a 2yr warrantee them keep the receipt and any other marketing material that states the warrantee

The best little petrol driven washer I brought second hand as new from fleebay years ago and is still working to this day.
Mind you the 7hp engine is made by Subaru so what do you expect ::)roll

It's also got what I would call proper all terrain wheels too ;D

That ryobi was my very first petrol washer as I knew no betterto be honest (direct feed, 3000psi, 10l pm) but still worked all be it very slowly even with a turbo fitted but done quite a decent job on pavers all the same don't you think?

Still comes in handy on small jobs when drainage is an issue and/or using as a jetter, telescopic lance etc as is less hassle lugging about than using my bigger washers at times.

What I know now a decent spec washer of at least 15lpm would have had that small area cleaned in half the time though.
