Title: 0800 numbers
Post by: mick hay on May 10, 2006, 09:05:46 pm
i'm seriously thinking of doing a large leaflet drop for conservatory cleaning, and was wondering about using a 0800 number on my leaflets!

I agree that with window cleaning its best to use a local number, which i do, but feel with the conservatory cleaning it may be beneficial to come across as a "larger company".

Also i'm on the borders of cheshire so would prob help when leaflets are delivered there as the std code is different.

Any views on this would be appreciated as i intend to market this service hard!!!

We bought  an 0800 number (for £90) and have calls transfered to our work mobile.

I don't know why but after that we did seem to get more calls.

Also I think it is easier for a person to write down an 0800 number than a mobile phone number/landline number.

Dunno? Maybe I'm seeing to much in it all but an 0800 sounds good anyway.

I don't have an 0800 number, but I do print both my Mobile Number and an 0845 number on all my paperwork (the 0845 number is answered by a Call Answering service)

I definitely get more people call me on the 0845 number than my mobile. Maybe it's because people prefer not to intrude by calling your mobile for an initial conversation ... or maybe they just like the professionalism of an 08 number

an 0800 number will cost an extra £10 a month  to your present phone
line cost

you pay for the incoming call and if you divert to mobile you pay for the mobile call from your landline to your mobile

if you get a lot of advertisers and sales men trying to call you because you are free to phone then you need to be ruthless and just cut them off to keep costs down, you know the type I am talking about. takes about 5 mins to retranlate their english, hope this bit does not offend as it is not ment to

hope this helps jinky

I've found a company that supplies the number free, free connection, £4.95 per month and that includes 500 minutes!!
Cant find a better deal than that  :)

Oh yes definately you will. Somedays the calls come one after the other. I am normally extremely polite but one day I just ended up asking if they were selling something, and even that was hard to get an answer to, and then shouting 'F*** OFF' down the phone.

That is very very cheap. Worth going for at that price.

thank you!! ;D   :-*   ;D
pierre i think it is a combo of leaflets and door knocking,
you can drop/ have delivered leaflets then follow up with door knock or door knock with leaflets in hand!

back to 0800 No!!

We've been through quite a number of companies that offer amazing deals. The last one was Orbit or similar.

Somehow, even though they advertise cheap rates, what you then end up paying is  always more than the advert.

I think read all the small print.

Our last company, who did a tele sales job via our free phone number, claims 2.5p a minute to our 0800 number.

Last months bills was £96 for 235 calls.

Somehow the 2 don't seem to concer.

Now we are trying World Telecom for 6 months at 1.6p a minute but I bet the calls will cost more than they claim.
