I am having a tough time with arthritis in the knees and with the Winter coming its a real painfull. There are days I battle to walk. Waiting for a knee replacement opp. Hopefully soon before I have no round left to work at. Its a reality check when you clean folk for years and when you down the drop you like a hot potato. I guess if you want loyalty get a dog.

You can have arthritis at any age, there are different types but I think what they all have in common is your immune system
attacks your joints.

Hope you get better and fully recover .
My dad had a full knee replacement and is ok . His 68 , but says it gives him a bit of grief .

Propa bummer when ya body let's ya down, but needs must and ya have to crack on even if it takes that bit longer

Hi Slap
I'm in the same boat as you. In recent months my work days have been limited to 3 or 4 hours a day before pain becomes unbearable.
Like yourself, I was worried about losing customers with not getting to them on time, so decided to make up with my son, who used to work with me until a recent falling out and I know rent my round out to him, with the exception of £100 a week of work around where I live. Between, what I get from the rental of my rounds and the work I do, I can live reasonably well, any spare time I have I am using to build up another round to rent out, to eventually cover the £100 a week work I have left should the arthritis get any worse.
Is there anyway you could do the same with your round? Rent it out, clean what u can and build another?
Good luck

Consider employing a young lad to take the strain off you.

I found that if you keep customers informed you will keep most I only lost a few domestics and 1 commercial ( son did most of bungalows where he could but no houses never lost a single house ) and was off for 7 months so hopefully it wont be too bad

Feel for you mate, hope you get knee done soon, arthritis is not good any time but worse in cold.
Working on your own is great (I do) but you can't take time off sick,as we offer a good service to customers, but I agree with you they have no loyalty towards us .

The rental idea seems a good one. Best wishes Slap bash.

Keep your chin up mucker as we all go through tough times with our health.
Maybe consider looking into taking on an apprentice as I'm sure the gov part fund still.

Just think with your new knee joint/s you will turn into the bionic man too ;D

Get well soon . Get fully fit and then ease back into it

Health is wealth.
Take it easy matey and you will get there in the end. Concentrate on getting better, and then build up your round again.

Invest in breathable, warmth retention clothing and sensible waterproof breathable boots, makes life with arthritis much more pleasant as body doesn't get cold, damp and morale remains high as warm, dry and comfortable wearing the right clothing for an outdoor job.....worth the investment.
