Title: Problem fitting immersion in Brodex tank
Post by: chez on October 11, 2015, 04:35:52 pm
Hey guys,
Sorry to bring an immersion thread yet again. Was about to fit an immersion in my Brodex tank but thought would try to do a test drill 64mm on an old bucket to check the immersion would fit in the hole. When I drilled it and fitted the immersion element (bit tight) realised that the thickness of the Brodex tank plastic is way more than a bucket of course (just under 9mm)  And it would seem that by the time I put both fibre washers on (1 inside and 1 outside the tank)  the element isn't long enough for the mechanical flange to get grip on the threads !! if that makes sense.
Element thread is 13mm long, fibre washers are 4mm thick, tank plastics 9mm = no room for good grip on thread
My question is has anyone fitted an immersion to a Brodex tank or are there elements with a longer thread on??
I am so glad I didn't just drill the tank could've been a disaster!
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers Chez

I fitted mine without the outside washer, just make sure you put some compound paste on the threads and that will be fine.

Sounds like the wrong washer, fibre washers should only be a mil to 1.5 thick, however I did the same as ks as the hole is tight you  can just silicone it
