Title: Anybody used a Marey water heater?
Post by: davids3511 on October 04, 2015, 09:29:59 pm
I am looking to buy a new water heater before winter kicks in and I'm not sure about the 8l heaters from China. Anybody used one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tankless-Hot-Water-Heater-2-0-GPM-Marey-Propane-On-Demand-Water-Heater-Portable/291572646453?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3D0d04add9fa1b4331b75ff1d22120b0d7%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D231707174403

It comes in at about £115 altogether and is designed to activate at about 2l a minute. Any opinions?

Well just a quick search revealed its Chinese it also has some pretty dire reviews.

Remember you'll also be hit for import tax

I was assuming it would be made in China anyway but was hoping it would be of better quality as it was a known name. Bugger.

The only Marley I've heard of do building supplies and tiles not heaters  :-\

A pound to a penny if you want a quality tankless heater you will need to shell out over £300 try looking at what heatrae sadia have to offer

What was the fogwash? It worked perfectly for years, I'd love another one but have no idea who made it.

I've used one of these for at least 4 years without any problems.  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Tankless-Water-Heater-Shower/dp/B000TXOJQ4   :)

The Ecotemp L5 was the first heater I used and was a prity poor heater to be honest compaired to the likes of a fastar 8L
Like all tankless water heaters they don't take well to frost damage if you forget to drain them down. Oops! ;D

Cheers, I've ordered one. If I get a year or two out of it I'll be delighted. I think the foggy was over £200.

At that price you can't go wrong as will pay for itself on the very first exterior clean you do.  ;)

I find using it in the summer a few time a good thing as it keeps all in order I made the mistake of leaving it in summer and it does not do it much good.

Why do you say that slap dash as I've never had any issues leaving it set on summer?

20 min built in safety cut out is there for a reason. Chepo lpg/propane portable water heaters without one fitted or disabled have been known to catch fire/explode. Not ideal when yer van goes up with it  ;D

Seriously though to be honest I've never found the 20 min cut out any issue myself as turning the flow of water at the wfp end on/off  whilst working will re-set it.  Another way is to use say a one shot wirless remote that you can turn the pump controller off/on whilst working that's if it's in range.
