Title: extensions
Post by: advanced on October 01, 2015, 03:15:24 pm
More and more people  are  putting these big kitchen extensions with   roof lanterns   expecting  us to clean them .
ok if its a flat roof  easily accessible but the ones with a small pitched tiles  that you have to climb over  using ladder  are a pain .
was wondering  how you  chaps get  over this problem ????

I did one and got my colleague to foot the ladder, but thinking on I'm not sure that was safe. Next time I'm asked I will include the cost of a ladder hook in the price.

If it looks risky don't do it . If you slip and break a leg is customer going to donate to your mortgage and other bills if they don't understand why you wont do it then do you want them as a customer .

On pitched roof extentions if you can't wfp it from the ground  or using a ladder to the roofline & then use a wfp then in my book it should be left out.

I've found an ankalad stabaliser (outriggers) fitted to the ladder & microlite standoff resting on roof tiles gives you a very stable platform to work from to be able to use a wfp on hard to reach glass etc without the need to go clambering over pitched roofs.

Also some of the slate tiles can be brittle and easily cracked, they can also be costly to replace if reclaimed or rare
colours.
