Anybody use them, any good?
Tony
-
I have had them in the past and they were good.
But I've found they all cost the same in the end (£100 Timberland boots last around 12-18 months or spend £50 on boots that last around 6-9 months).
-
I bought a pair of North Face Chillkats - first pair arrived too small ::)roll Waiting another pair - look pretty waterproof.
-
bergaus GTX explorer boots.just under £95 including delivery.
.....and they fit perfectly.
-
Leak like a sieve too after six months - just binned two pairs.
-
It the comfort I'm after.
Thanks for the comments.

Apparently you have to buy one size up with these boots Dave, is that what you found?
-
I normally take a ten but they were miles too small. Ordered an eleven still don't know if they will fit. Gaynor Sports Ambleside.

Gone with these in the end

I spent £105 on a pair of Engelbert Strauss trainer/shoes on the 1st Septeme that crippled me, the are now on eBay with a bid of .99

Last couple of pairs of boots I've bought have been Hi-Tec Eurotrek.
Not bad boots but only last around 6-9 months before the uppers start coming apart from the sole, but for the money aint too bad.

That's not too far off the truth there, generally I've found pretty much the same. I'm currently on a cheap pair of Dunlop safety boots from Sports Direct while I decide on my next decent pair. They are light, comfy and waterproof- but for how long we'll have to see and I'll probably be able to buy Three pairs of these for the same cost as my next pair.

I go for comfort, my feet are quite wide ( or as the kids call them pasty feet ) so am not having aching feet all day.
Am using north face trainers at the moment not water proof but will get water proof north face trainers come the winter, I do keep a pair or steel toes cap boots in the van for ppe along with steel for cap wellys but after a few hours ya feet are aching in them
-
Got a pair the right size now for the winter - see how long these last. http://www.gaynors.co.uk/mens/footwear/boots/dp-108230/mens-chilkat-ii-nylon
Berghaus were the most comfy I've used but didn't stay dry for long, Brashers soles were too soft, Screwfix Site boots leak, Screwfix titanium were good until the soles started to come off then leaked, Regatta from a charity shop have worked well but make me sweat, Hitec nano tech guaranteed waterproof lasted two weeks before they leaked there's probably more I've forgotten about but £140 walking boots are the biggest waste of money going. Seems everything is made in China or Vietnam by the same factories so we are blessed with junk mostly.

Are these (that fit) in a size bigger than you would normally wear Dave?
-
Yep ;)
How did you know? I could have saved on postage sending them back.

I did a bit of research on these boots not long ago and this the one consistent comment that kept coming up. Been looking at a pair here, just over £50 including delivery with added extra discount code on home page.

I'm a size 8 but they only have 8.5 or 10- reckon I would need a 9?
-
9 I reckon and they'd still be snug. I expect the linings will flatten out a bit in time.
-
I bought a pair of viper elite boots for £70 off eBay best money I've ever spent on footwear ,so comfy and waterproof, good solid tread and good ankle support
-
As with all boots only time will tell they will either leak like a sieve within weeks or the soles will wear rapidly .
For the winter i am going to stick with some cheap Karrimor's similar to the chilkats 2 pairs i will alternate .
I just need a really really really good waterproofing product someone mentioned something a few weeks back cant remember what it was all the widely sold stuff is crap .
