Did a job yesterday, really mucky restaurant, really wasn't looking forward to it, but after a three hour job it came up trumps, the owner said she had previously had Rainbow and Chem Dry in and was very dissatisfied with them but very impressed with the results i got (sorry franchisees ;))
The point is I only use my trusty extracta porty and 100 ft of hose and the experience i've gained over last ten years, but it shows you can compete with the big boys and the big toys, it's mostly i've found how you approach each individual job.
The best part is she said i actually charged a bit more than them but she wasn't really bothered as the job was done properly (not trying to slag anyone off :)) and she got me the restaurant next door as well 8)
Think i'll just keep on doing what i'm doing ;)

I would have done an equally good job in 90mins,
with my big truckmount ;D ;D

and I would have charged more than you as well ;)

As Mike says, it is possible to obtain top results using portable equipment. However what I have found using a truckmount is the vast time saving.
Don't want to get into the portable v truckmount slanging match again.

AND as an ex Chen Dry franchissee I can assure you we had no "big toys" at all.

didn't mean to upset you guys ::)
The responses were strange as i didn't say how big the restaurant was or how much i charged ::)
i wasn't saying either, truckmounts were rubbish, i've used a couple before and i think they're brilliant - it's just not possible for me to use one with my customers.
The point i was making was, it's not so much what equipment you've got ,it's how you use it ;D

my answers where only tongue-in-cheek :)
how come you where using a porty and still had to use 100ft of hose, I thought the nice thing about porties was you could get them close to the job.

Mike,
It was just easier that way as there were so many obstacles in the way and steps, so i just left the porty at the back of my truck and trailed the hose, fortunately on an extracta you don't lose too much suction on a 100ft of hose, so i use it this way most of the time, which means even in security sensitive areas i can bring the gear inside but don't have to move it too much :D
