Title: Brick wall cleaning
Post by: Kevin Miller on September 14, 2015, 06:41:03 pm
How would you guys go about chemically cleaning this wall. They don't want it pressured washed. Was thinking Hydrochloric acid. Any opinions. Been advised to go with SH first then use a weakened mix of Hydrochloric acid which makes sense.(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1442252388_image.jpg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1442252388_image.jpg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1442252388_image.jpg)

Thanks Chris.  What would your method be.  Usually I'd pass on this but it's a big clean for me which I can do.  But the wall they are adamant it must be chemically cleaned which I understand why so I need to do it if I want the job.  Also if I want my business to grow I need to understand how to do these types of job.

What are you trying to clean off it…it just looks like a badly pointed wall with a little bit of organic growth. Will cleaning it make it look any better?

With all due respect (Jack) my 3 Year old grandson could have pointed that wall better!  Stevie Wonder could have done a better job of it the pointing is appalling!  It needs to be sprayed with algoclear or similar and then left for a week or so and then possibly a gentle wash with a Heavy Duty Acidic Cleaner and a rotating brush then rinse and walk away.  The only other way to improve it is to knock it down and rebuild it! ???
