Title: Gutter sucker - ebay
Post by: Shane sharples on September 09, 2015, 06:01:43 pm
Hi all, has anyone heard of or used the gutter sucker which is sold on eBay?
Thinking of buying one as I can get a good deal with camera for 1k . Had a few gutter jobs and don't mind doing them but haven't got the cash for a sky vac or anything expensive.

What's your thoughts guys?
Cheers

Okay had a little look, basically it looks to be a sky vac lookie likey - checking performance it's down on suction esp. As its 3000 watts compared to 2600 for the skyvac - I have no idea if 30% carbon content is good or even true.

Concerns for me are size of inlet - is it a standard vacuum one or modified to suit gutter work. The silicone bend is rubbish - solid Ali bend is what you need to really get the crud out ( and break it up ). And the hose is very short, I work with 15 meters, saves time in moving about.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for,  cheap will do light duty work, it may do heavy duty stuff on occasion but not heavy duty day in day out.

Our omnivac is about to enter its sixth year, it has done well over 1000 gutter clears plus lots of other stuff,
In that time it's lost one motor at a replacement cost of £78  ( have chewed up a few hoses mind! )

Maybe a good starter machine, but if was paying I'd save up more and get quality kit

Cheers darran , really appreciate your in depth review! thanks for taking the time to look at it.
As I haven't really got any gutter work lined up, I'm just a bit worried about spending £2500 , and not get any gutter jobs lol
Would you say there's plenty of gutter work out there?

If you market it right, you can make a good living out of it.    It's like anything else you get out what you put in  ;D

Yes plenty, certainly if you have a decent window cleaning base.

Generally a quiet week is 4 clears, then you get a deluge of rain and that can triple,  autumn is generally busier as the leaves fall and then we have our annual round through February which is roughly 10 clears per day

The poles are ok I've been using them for years..
Don't like the look of the vac.
The vac hose looks to be 38mm which a no no.
