looking for a software/app, ideally free to tell me who's house needs clean. Do you use it or do you just stick to the good old "spreadhsheet"?
-
for £25 per month are cheaper options but cant beat it https://www.cleanerplanner.com/ free trial available also speak to rob the software designer and he can possibly transfer your data on to it
-
Cleaner planner is the rolls Royce of software with great backup
Then a long way behind is awoka - buckit and window cleaner pro
Finally there is George - cheap and cheerful but works on a basic level
None are "free" - you get what you pay for! And these programs hold all your vital biz info

What he said ;)

I use Aworka. I tried Cleaner Planner but didn't like the way you couldn't work from your planner. I believe that might have changed?
-
Haven't Awoka and George merged?
Nick
-
New one soon available http://www.easywindowcleaner.com
I think it's free. Pay extra for add ons
I have not yet tried it.
-
Aworka and George have kind of merged but i am keeping original George as i find Aworka too finicky, George is a great bit of kit for a small business as it is only a one off fee of 50pounds with the option of paying 12 pounds a year for internet back up.
As a small trader i find cleaner planner is not worth 25 pounds a month, they do offer a 15 pound a month plan but that doesnt seem to do any more than George at a pound a month except you can only use george on one pc?

I had Buckit couple of years ago. They shut their site down surely they haven't opened back up! If so I wouldn't touch them.
-
I didn't know they had shut down, I threw it out as one of the many also rans out there ( or not as in this case )
Let's face it wcpro had big potential but now it's pretty dead on its feet.
Cleaner planner has a monthly charge, but it does so much and so easily it more than saves it fee in time saved alone.

I use George and can't see me changing any time soon...it does everything I need..
No way would I pay 25 a month for CP :o

£25 per month is hardly breaking the bank for what it can do, each to there own I suppose

I showed "George" to a friend who has some geek job, and he just laughed at it! He was like 'people pay for that!' Its pretty poor to say the least.
Buckit was just a waste of time inputting data for their system to not work properly and they also didn't bother there arse to respond.
I now only have a small amount of window cleaning work so it's excel for me. If I were to have a two man setup then CP would be the way to go.

Why's it so poor then?
It's helped build my business for 5 years and I have an employee. ..

I'm a sole trader and I use CP for £25.00 a month the text service and GoCardless intergration alone saves me loads of time .
The sheer simplicity of most tasks also makes it worth it and the support from Rob who responds quickly .
And the forum is a big help although Stuart Soupy has the answer to almost every question .
-
george is a good simple program for keeping track of everything.i used it for years with minimal problems however i use CP now.
£15 a month.i think its well worth it for the mobile app alone nevermind the support,forum,web-based so dont have to worry if PC/laptop/tablet dies,no need to back up as rob backs up hourly to 3 different servers.
CP is just miles better IMO.the option to shift your schedule x amount of days when going on holiday is so easy and a brilliant feature.the ability to add a job on the app and slot it into your existing work is great too.
emailing invoices to commercial jobs is effortless, showing how old your debts are in days is also good(i phone or send a text reminder after 14 days without payment on certain jobs).
at a glance i can see see on the mobile app last time i cleaned a customers windows, how much they owe, phone number/email,reminder notes etc.syncing is easy and quick at the end of your working day.texting customers straight from the app worksheet is great too the night before for notification/access etc.
i save money on paper and ink and time on admin compared to george for sure.its easier too plus you can add your logo to invoices which makes them look even more professional.
-
I thought the texting facility and emailing invoices pushed cleaner planner up to 25 a month Dazmond? If it is 15 pounds a month with them facilities included i may switch to cleaner planner.

The texting part is extra but not the e-mailing invoices think roughly about 3 - 4 p a text reckon I spend an extra £5 every 2 months for the texts if that. However you could download the worksheets to your phone and then text through that, that then would come off your allocated texts from your mobile provider so cost nothing. It would mean you would haver to text individually but if you did it from the C/P program you can select everyone you want to text and they would all receive the message with one click.

i download a worksheet to the mobile app and text customers from that the night before.i only have a few texts here and there to send each evening(sometimes none).its free as its in with my monthly free data(unlimited texts).very handy.
the email invoices are included with the £15 a month plan. :)
-
Texting is free with Aworka.

"George" here.
thought it was "marc"
-
yep cp for me and text free from the mobile app spread sheet so free to
also like that cp has it own forum where you can ask all questions and the boys will help you out
rob always listen to what you sat about upgrades and works with you to imply them

Using George is like putting a Morris marina in a formula one race, it does the basics like moves forward and steers around the corners but very little else.
CP just does everything a modern software package should do for running a business it intigrates lots of features.
The question I pose is - do you walk or ride a bike to do your round ? Surely you should be because all that money your wasting on diesel !!
Those that talk about cp are not trying to be the big i am, or be one up on others, there take on the software is that it's a real benefit to running your biz, and your missing out
However if George is your choice I respect that.

I know you were involved with CP and your enthusiasm is great, but I can't think of anything that I need from Aworka that it doesn't do. I don't currently use Gocardless so that doesn't bother me. I am about to get two vans out and as I understand it, Aworka will cater for that also. I can't help thinking your metaphor is a poor one unless CP is a Hillman Imp. Last time I tried it, it wasn't possible to plan a day's work using the planner. ::)roll

I think you need windows 98 for it to work . ;D ;D

8 weekly how come you could'nt plan a days work , I must admit i tried CP the first time and binned it off as i could'nt get my head round it from using Aworka which i had used for over 2 yrs .
I gave it a second go as i had over 60 custys on GoCardless and really needed to make the change it took a while to get to grips with as with all things new but never looked back now .

In Aworka I look at the planner and adjust my workload by dragging and dropping jobs to different days. You couldn't do that with CP. You had to create worksheets and it was cumbersome in comparison.
-
In CP planner you can drag and drop any number of jobs from day to day .
Whether ticking 1-20 jobs individually or by round or day .
The worksheets are to work from on a printed sheet or by the app and jobs can be moved from worksheet to worksheet once created .
I suppose if you don't want to create worksheets you don't have to but I like creating and working from the mobile app as I have a head like sieve

-
After ticking whatever you want moving you just drag and drop or you have the option of moving selected jobs forwards or backwards by selecting a date from the change due option at top of planner
Or shift schedule which will give you the option to shift all of your jobs forward by days or weeks if you're going away on holiday for instance .

8 weekly - thankfully, Mike has pointed out what cp can do, as for having a hand in it, that's purely Mrs smudger searching the net and finding rob, who felt he could produce something along the lines of wcpro but intigrates loads of features ongoing were hoping he will add wages into it.
We threw in what we wanted to see in a round management program as did many others, so what you have is truly a program made not only for window cleaners but by window cleaners - rob is just the conduit which the info is past and turned into useful software ;D
Please also bear in mind at this time ( and very recently, if still not implemented ) AWORKA couldn't plan more than 8 weeks in advance ! - and was told it's an unessasary feature :-X
As posted, it's all about trying to help, but your happy with AWORKA which is fine by me 👍

I can add a job for 1st January 2016? Not sure whether what you say was once true (don't think it was as I've always been able to add jobs many months in advance), but it certainly isn't true now.
This forum has bandwagons and CP is one of them. I will say that Aworka is slow. Chris says they will soon be moving to a new server. If it doesn't speed up I will be moving, but when I last looked at CP it was cumbersome to plan.
-
Steve
if i can work out cp after a week then i am sure it wouldn't take you long
its like a new phone play around and it just gets better
the fact and biggest for me is rob,who as always listen to what us the paying customer wants, also the fact that the forum bumps up ideas which get discussed and sorted by rob,i feel comfortable that rob will continue with the good work and service, which is priceless to me

Alternatively, if you are reasonably proficient at tweaking software, you can use the spreadsheet/database cheapies and freebies that have been out there for years. A pig to set up, creative thinking needed to maintain but can be very flexible if prepared to put up with loads of head scratching while figuring it out.
-
Has this post been resurrected from the year 2000 , George is brilliant ;D
-
brought this back to life is george worth the £50 only a small uncomplicated round i have, so don't need all the bells and whistles just yet.
thanks

Yes

Thank you.
-
It's excellent value for money. It's worth paying the £12 per year for internet back up too.
-
Thanks again, just wanted something simple that didn't come with a monthly charge I'm I right In thinking you pay the 50 notes for the license and no most hiden charges and £12 a year for the data back up .

anyone with a bit of commonsense can easily set up a system to text all their customers the evening before with one standard text message that only needs to be cut and pasted from previous time and text everyone simultaneously with one click. Prefer bank bill payments or bank transfers, no fees for this service and save up to £25 a month or £300 a year on some web designer, that money saved gets spent elsewhere, why spend it needlessly on work to line someone else's pocket.
-
Aworka is fine though. Just slow right now. It does pretty much everything I currently need.
Aworka now fixed regarding speed. Does everything we need. And it's £10 a month rather than £25(!) for CP.

Do your franchisees pay for their own use? I have 3 users now and it's £20 per month.
-
George for me
tried cp but way too many bells and whistles and expensive.
depends how you use your software i suppose, all i need is to see whats due and mark it off when its done which george does.
I dont use it for my accounts
-
Hi 8 Weekly
Yes each Franchisee receives and pays for their own account however, it all falls undoer one roof i.e. the Administrator (Franchisor) (which is free of charge) can see all but the operators can only see their own. The Administrator has total control, can move jobs between operators, amend jobs, etc, etc, they can also de-activate "operator" access should the need arise.
No doubt you're aware of the full GoCardless integration which can be individual or centralised, along with comprehensive text integration including personalised templates etc, etc.
Hope that helps
John
