As the search function is rather poor I’m looking for information on the best and most efficient way to rejuvenate a ro membrane.... Unclog it in other word so the ppm returns back down to near factory efficiently.
Any help would be appreciated

It seems very common to maintain/clear fouled membranes in water treatment plants but I'm surprised no one has come up with a simple cost effective product for the task for the likes of wfp window cleaners.

This is what I did to my R O. : I isolated the pump and membranes from the system and also disconnected the DI. I then dissolved citric acid crystals( 100 grams ) in pure water which i put into a 20 liter drum. Then pumped it through the ro and back into the drum. For 10 minutes. Then I flushed the ro with pure water for 10 minutes. The tds before the clean was 75 and after the flush it was 40. I did not do a second clean with acid which might bring it down more. AS it seems the acid lost its acidity by the end of the first flush. I think its trial and error on this one.

Nice one... I will experiment when I go to change my membranes so if I cock it up can replace them there and then ;)

I have just done mine as I did not get my order for membranes in time. And I paid for 24 hour service, going to as for my cash back. Still using my ro a week later and not problem. After forcing the acid through and then flushing with pure the TDS coming out of the ro was 659 and my tap water is 330 so the lime was coming out of the ro. This took 20 min to drop th 40. At this point I had to change tap water as I have use up all my pure. So its difficult to say how well it worked, I was happy with the result. I will do it when my new membranes get a tds build up again. I guess the ro membrane guys don`t want us to know.
