hi I have a jet washer but I don't like leaving it in van it stinks the van out of petrol in the morning and iam a bit wary of spark plug
do you jet washers leave your systems in the van or do you have a way of stopping the petrol smell
-
Think you have a leak mate ;D
-
Why are you wary of a spark plug?
-
My machine never leaves the van, and I like the occasional smell of petrol ;D......... Just open the doors when your working or leave ya windows down half an inch of a night to help ventilate
-
thanks I have wiped everything down and going to leave in van overnight to see if the smells the same if it smells bad I may have a leak like you said so I will fix
rob the I read in the instructions remove spark plug when storing in a vehicle or store shed etc but I forget to take out sometimes
-
Do you turn off the fuel tap? I never remember :D
-
I did thimk of that ben I thimk I may have a small pin prick leak it was stored in my garage for a month did not really check the petrol level after use I will find out tomorrow when I check
-
Who told you to remove the spark plug?
Doing that you run the risk of dirt entering the bore plus you may knacker the threads constantly removing and re fitting it.
Do you remove the plugs from your car when you park it?
-
it was the user manual if stored for long periods take out spark plug an cover over the machine this will stop accidental spark and fire and also take out all petrol when stored for more than a month I ve never taken it out probably forget to put it back
-
Do all you guys take the machine out of the van when jet washing???
I was THINKING of leaving the thing in the van and just having the back doors and windows open and running it straight from the van - is this a big no no. My machine is a pain to take out being a bloody heavy 9HP diesel thingy with dodgy wheels. I also have a 400 litre water tank in the van and when the machine is outside the van it does reach my tank so have to get the wheelie bin out. First season doing this so just a noob :) No p taking please :)
-
My machine won't come out the van, just leave the door open with the exhaust pointing outwards much easier and faster than unloading it all the time.

That will be fine mate, mine never leaves the van.
-
does your insurance company know you run a washer from inside the van?
-
Don't know but it's on the contents insurance, but you need a fork lift to get it out anyway.
-
Same as Rob there and why would it matter to the insurance ....... It's a pressure washer not a car bomb !!
When u took out insurance did u say to ur insurance oh I take it out the van before I use it ???
-
Just asking as they can and do cause fires you know. Not to mention carbon monoxide poisoning ;D

-
I put this in our van once and couldn't get it back out :D
-
Did you have any suspension left ?
Darran
-
I'll be honest - I ended up borrowing a Manitou to move it around :) A full size transit would be fine - our connect DID NOT enjoy it one bit.

Ben sorry I couldn't get down to sort the frame for the washer and Gennys, but really excited about getting it done.
Will give you a buzz when I get home ;D
-
I like the reels in smudgers van
Where can I get them?
-
I believe they are MTM reels 60M I think and about £109 + VAT :)
-
I'm going to start running out of the van however I'm concerned that if I'm cleaning a patio round the back of the house it leaves your van wide open to thieving bar stewards

Secure it with a chain !
-
I've tried both and to be honest I prefer the washers being mobile instead of bolted down in the van.
-
Found a really good guy who supply's the odd bit of pressure washing gear ;D ;)

do you ever have a problem with the hoses touching the exhausts?
-
No
I always pulled off more than was required to reach the furthered the point then tuck them into the corner I now have roller guides

-
Smudger,
Do your washers draw from that yellow hose near the top of the tank?
If so does the other other side of the hose drop down to the bottom of the tank?
-
it looks a great setup would love the same in my van, currently using a bowser setup but would be handy to have it mounted in my van, im currently trying to work out how to have a return to tank unloader fitted?
-
The yellow pipes are return to tank feeds
The feed to the pw's is at the bottom - it's an ibc tank so it's easy to get a screw fitting then 2 inch bore pipe which in turn splits into 2 one inch bore pipes (1 for each machine)
Give Ben Marriott a shout - or look up his posts for a link, take a picture of your machine and he will know what you need

Looks good to me Darran

A lot of carpet cleaners use machine that run on petrol and are permanently bolted into the van, these machine start at 18hp right up to 75hp. we just leave the door open or sometimes for security we will fit an Extention pipe vented through the floor so we can can close the door.
