I found out today that another window cleaner has been canvassing part of my round and quoting £1 a house where I clean for between £10 & £12 ....
Fortunately none of my customers have been gullible enough to take him on. I don't think he'll be in business for long ...

I wonder how long he takes to clean an average 3 bed semi.

Madness.
Mayb he is clutching at straws, and that is a first clean price, followed by a massive price hike next month?
-
Well I suppose it's 100% better than offering to do it for free
I'm now woundering how many would pay him in 1p coins just for the craic as I know I would ;D

No but if he did a good job I may give him a 25% tip.

Or say you didn't feel you got value for money & want a refund

Its just a newbie mistake thinking a £1 first clean will make customers jump ship its the same with guys who undercut,
you cant blame them as it works in other professions.
I remember offering a free gutter clean to all new customers :-[ thinking this is going to get me a lot of work thankfully
nobody took me up on the offer.

Or maybe you've peed somebody off, and they're trying to get you to lose a load of work..?

Yes that would be a 1000% price increase! The two customers I spoke to originally thought he was quoting them £1 a window. I'm cleaning then same area again today so I may get some further updates!

upset any other window cleaners lately? ;D ;D
seriously no customers will take him on at such a ridiculous price.
i have lost the odd long standing customer(10 years+!) to cheaper prices.one the other month switched to a trad guy who was charging £7 (i was charging £10).the guy has to stand on 2 sloping roofs to clean the awkward windows!he s now got 3 houses on this estate(ive still got 90+ accounts though!) ;D

One of my external one-off fsg in/out cleans today the chap said don't worry about the windows too much as we have a window cleaner. Anyway turns out he has been their window cleaner for 30 odd years but calls when he feels like every 3 or 4 momths as he is no spring chicken now. The trad guy charges 9 squid but the house in my book is worth at least 35 per month on a regular cleaan. I don't think the old boy has put his prices up for years....Bless him ;D
