Has anyone tried one yet? Expense apart they look quite impressive and maybe some truth in the resin lasting longer due to the filter system they've made under the lid..any thoughts (apart from cost).
-
The price for the tanks and cost of bags of resin put me right off but must admit they do look good though.
-
You can re-use the bags and fill them with your own preferred make of resin.

Do you use them then?

No, I don't....but I know a couple of guys that do.

Thanks…
The di tank filter system works alot more efficiently going by the sales blurred than a normal di tank.
All the same unger wants silly money for decent size tanks. I will just have to wait until good old china starts producing copies methinks ;D

Ive heard you can fill with loose resin. Yes they'll get copied in time, the locking lid and filter look a good improvement.

.....or just give the standard vessel a shake regularly to disperse the channels formed by the incoming flow of water traveling 'DOWN' through the resin.....
Unger and Spectrums vessels work on the same principal of incoming water traveling 'UP' through the resin.
Unger vessel, water enters at the bottom and rises evenly UP-through the resin and out the top...
Spectrum vessel, water enters at the top and 'down' the centre tube and then rises evenly 'UP-through' the resin and out the top...
Standard vessel, water enters at the top and 'flows DOWN-through' the resin (causing channels to form) and then rises UP-through the centre tube and out the top.

I'm aware of that but thanks anyway for your detailed reply ;)

Soupy brought/tried this but I don't think he was impressed

I've got Spectrum's but not sure their as anti-channelling as the unger. It has a filter that covers the entire vessel as opposed to the small central one on the spectrum.

A small central filter only, will be the 'standard' Spectrum Vessel .....
On the 'High Yield' Spectrum Vessel there are gauze spreader plates top and bottom which are slightly smaller than the internal diameter of the vessel.
The Unger and Spectrum 'High Yield' vessels work on the same principal of incoming water rising evenly up-through the resin.....thus both Unger and Spectrum stating....'Up to 30% more efficient use of resin'.
-
It's about time we unscrewed a vessel from the bottom . Then fill with resin and tighten back up .
Would make refilling a lot easier

Can make your own di vessels when you think about what they actually do.

Thanks for that mate i didn't know they did a 'High yield' version. Will have a look. :)

Do not buy one. 10ppm going in, lasted less than 1 days work. After just 450l it had gone to 3ppm. There is a satisfaction guarantee, which WCW honoured.

Bloody hell mate that don't sound good at all ???

I thought it was a good looking thing and the thinking behind the design looks sound enough. It was the smallest one that I bought but like I said - one days work and needing replaced is no use to me.
They claim it is more efficient and uses a higher % of the resin. On opening it up it looked to me that almost 0% of the resin had been used up, the water was channelling right through it. I tried all sorts to make it work better to no avail.

Must be down to user error :P ;D.

Could well be. I doubt it though.
