Just put an advert in Gumtree for a self employed canvasser, any idea of the quality of person I should expect ? Going to have them follow the flyers we are having delivered ;D

Hi mate, ive tried this on gumtree a while ago.
two lads came out with me for the day on seperate occasions and it was ok, i went out with them, the only problem was neither of them wanted to do it again and didnt like it, dont blame them i dont like it myself.
Im considering trying to get a lad to work with me one day a week and canvass whilst im cleaning but its such a pain having to go through all the employment laws just to try it out.
gumtree was free back then, now it seems to be 20 quid for a job ad even when i try a new account

We use one on a regular basis now.
Wouldn't bother trying to train someone up, find an established canvasser

You won't find a good canvasser you can afford.
If they are good they will be earning £500+ working for home improvement companies, can you afford to pay them that amount?
To answer my own question!!!........ If they are earning 15% of the jobs they book ( which is what you will need to offer) then you want to be paying them £500+ because if you are they are bringing in over 3 grands worth of work :)

We pay 2x for every clean he gets, last time I checked he earnt well over your figure ;D

If they are bringing the work in then I would look after them. Would make em an offer they couldn't refuse ;D

I'd be interested in the maths of that, twice the cost of clean and he earns over £500 every week, so he brings in a minimum of £250 every week, a grand of new work the first month with doubles every month as you have the work he got in month one plus the work he gets in the following month plus the incremental increase of each month

Pretty much, we use him 3 weeks out of 4 - we do need to have a break from all the new cleans, and we are now right in the middle of silly season cleaning hospitals and schools so it can get a bit manic.
Any drop outs before second clean get replaced by the canvasser.
Down side is we do have to clean at normal price on a first clean rather than our normal 50% surcharge, but repeating windows are a long term gain

I need to find someone who will canvass that regular, the growth would be crazy
