im about to get a contract cleaning bus stops down, i already use the wfp window cleaning system and have a 700 litre tank in the van but i want to buy a cheapish petrol pressure washer to try out as well as my wfp, can anyone recommend a cheap but half decent pressure washer looking to spend around £2-300 if that would get me anything.
i suppose it doesnt have to be something extreme as its only washing down bus stops and im probably looking for something thats just in a frame as it will be sat in the van.
any advice would be great.
-
I would spend a little more and get a second hand 15 lpm or bigger machine that you can use for other jobs like driveways etc.

cheers guys i did think about getting something abit more powerfull but as im not too interested in doing paths drives etc i just want something good and strong enough to wash bus stops and the path around then down for now as its only a 2-3 month contract twice a year, i have my window cleaning to keep me more than busy the rest of the year in fact ive took away my gutter clearance service because im struggling to cope with the windows, the bus stops i can do early mornings etc so that will fit in fine.
what do you reckon to something like this?

-
if its new with 12 month warranty then should be fine
-
parts are non existent apparently though
-
yeah im thinking for 12 months with warranty i can take it straight back if it broke and after 12 months i could bin it and get a new one at that price but if i could get a decent 2nd hand honda gx for the right money like the one you posted they may be better if theyre more reliable!
-
Good morning :D
What sort of flow / pressure are you looking for we have a few of the 5.5/6.5hp lurking around (See pic)
They are in the carry frames. :)
-
hi pal i havent got a clue just basically looking for something good enough to pressure wash bus stops and shelters down on a general clean!
can you advise what you have and how much you are selling it for.
something small and van mounted is ideally what im looking for as i wont be getting it out the van every job i do, as i say i wont be doing anything like driveways as i dont plan to get into that line of work, its more for the usual dirt mess on bus stops etc
-
I'll have a quick look on the server and see what we've got on the R&D account.
Should be a few options open to you :)

What is the dry weight of that machine please Ben ?
-
I think its between 26.5 & 30 KG :D
Depends on which of the 3 types of carry frame gets used
-
We've got -
A couple of Interpump TT1512/13 Pumps I think theres also a UH200 Bar 8 Lpm pump too.
On either Briggs Vanguard 6.5HP or Honda GX160's
You'll get 150 Bar at about 12/13 LPM from them should run about 35mins on a litre of petrol from what testing we have done. Briggs is slightly better on fuel only by 3 or 4 minutes though.
No need for return to tank so just run direct on a hose lock fitting from your normal tank.
-
one of these would be fine

or you could buy a generator and use a electric one.
Use Pure water from your tank to gravity feed the pressure washer, will dry clear

Thanks, looking for sommat that will wash gutters out after cleaning, so cant fit pressure washer in with generator, but if it is as small as it looks could be a goer ;D

Smallest of the frames is 455L x 310W x 440H,

Would that eBay washer you posted up be ok with water from a tank rather than running water from a tap with pressure etc?

Stay away from the cheap chinese rubbish from ebay…even if it has German Stickers on it. Take it from me it aint ever been near Europe!
Pay a little extra and buy a decent machine from Ben that will give years instead of hours of service.

Chris, you have been quiet on here lately . . . .can you give me some tips please ?
-
Cheers mate I'm waiting on Ben to get back with some prices to see if he's anywhere near what I'm looking to spend as like I say if I get 12 months out of something with warranty it will have more than paid for itself over and over with this big contract I have coming up and if be happy to chuck it and buy another cheappy!!
-
The issue with Clarke etc is they clearly say INTERMITTENT use - basically that gets them out of having to honour the warranty after a few months, they'll just say it has been used continuously. It's obviously up to y'all but I thought I'd point that out :)
-
Only things that go cheap are Budgies ;D
-
I had one of those Chinese machines, just watch out for flying engine parts :o
-
Heres an ebay link to the pump on those machines - if buy direct from china like Jetmac and this tool seller do this pump costs me $15 so by the time its here nearly 20£
So the bit you hope to last you x amount of time costs less to buy than the brush on the end of your pole.

Dealing with the 3 P's (poo, pee & puke) not to mention blood, used and discarded needles and takaway crap is not my idea of a great job no matter what equipment I would use.
I had a call out of the blue from a chap that wanted a subby to do that type of work and was paying peanuts for the pleasure so I kindly told him to go do one as you do.
My advice If you are going to buy any kind of kit buy something decent that is robust enough to last regardless how long you want to use it for.

Cheers guys it's only a great job because of how much I'm going to earn off it lol, I agree though cleaning all that off it won't be fun but just have to think of the pennies!
Does that pump bit just bolt on the side of the engines?

We have the following
750 Series 5.5HP Briggs and Stratton with Interpump UH2008 (200 Bar @ 8 LPM) £300
950 Series 5.5HP Briggs and Stratton with Interpump 6.5HP TT1513 (150 Bar 13LPM £350
Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 6.5HP TT1513 (150 Bar 13LPM ) £400
Honda GX160 TT1512 (150 Bar 12 LPM ) £450
All come with Vario lance and 10m High Pressure Hose (Can be supplied with suction hose for use with water tank)
Carriage would probably have to be on a mini pallet due to being about 30KG (Might kill the TNT / Parcel Force chap who delivers it)

If you want to come and have a play of course. :D
-
Hi pal what's the Briggs and Stratton engines like are they reliable etc?
Do you have any pics of the £300 system?
-
Briggs are better than 99% of the copy engines around and to be honest the Vanguard are BETTER than the Honda, but Honda have the brand embedded in the UK, warranty exists on the engine with your local Briggs and Stratton centre (Same as Honda) (Same as Loncin) The problem with Loncin is EP Barrus are about the only place you can get any warranty work done and there are only two or 3 in uk - compared to hundreds off Briggs or Honda authorised centres.
I'll get an image to you tomorrow. Be mid morning as we have TNT coming in for a brief visit...
-
Might be intersted in the Briggs, will give you a call.
-
TNT have left the GX160 looks like the below image but without the gauge.
Will upload one of the briggs series in a moment the vanguard looks the one in the trolley but on the same frame as the honda above.
-
I've just found this one which can go out for £340
10m High Pressure Hose
Will change the outlet to M22
Return to tank
200 Bar 8 Lpm
Briggs Series 750 5.5HP
Interpump UH2008

Hi Ben ,any chance of a photo of everything you get with it.sorry to be a pain.thinking of doing some drives and patios .when it's raining
-
Will sort that for you in work tomorrow.
I've got a 200 bar 16lpm which may be better for you.
Many thanks
-
thinking of doing some drives and patios .when it's raining
I would advise you to go for a much better spec washer if wanting to clean say block pavers efficiently.
Basically the higher the flow rate & bar/psi a decent pump can run at the more efficient the cleaning process will be time wise.
Honda gx390 13 hp motor with a reduction gearbox and interpump ws201 15 lpm or ws202 21 lpm spec washers is what most tend to use for domestic work.
Those smaller hp washers that Ben has listed are ok for say car valeting but really not suitable for that type of work if you ask me.

The machines listed on here are the cheapest you can buy to do the odd little job which is what the OP wanted.
As you know you can sit here telling people to spend £800 plus on a 15lpm machine but few listen. The machines I've listed are cheap but won't pack up after a months use. They are ideal for washing stuff off and we sell an awful lot for fleet wash / porta loo cleaning and into farms where the water supply is limited. If you have 500l of water and need to clean something in the middle of no where they have their place.

you are spot on Ben, i feel im a tad different to the guys who are looking for a pressure washer as im not interested in drives its more for just blowing down extra dirty bus stops and i think a lower lpm would be fine for that work, im meeting the contractor next week and if it all goes through i will definately be on the phone to you pal as those briggs and stratton look decent!!
thanks again and one final thing if i bought one off you apart from connecting the water feed from my tank up would i need anything else to get blasting away and is there an option to spray tfr etc through it?
cheers glen
-
Hi Glen,
Yes anything with a TT pump on it has a chemical pickup built in and they come with the vario lance to apply it at low pressure, same as in a carwash.
Ben

On that one you'd be looking at somewhere around the £850 mark - the engines cost us the same as the equivalent Honda but I'll be honest and say that the Vanguard are better build. I also like the transport guard system whereby turning the machine off with the ignition also switches off the fuel. Oh and 3 years commercial engine warranty from Briggs.
You'd get 15m of hose a 3m inlet and return and an italian MV925 lance with drop head - allowing chem pickup.
See pics of lance and inlet kits

Yes of course - if you know roughly what you are looking for I can make sure it's not up on the racking! Haha

So I would not really get anything for £300 : £400 . That's any good

I ran one of these for 3 years + . I used it for washing shop front doorways, shutters etc. And latterley it spent its time washing trucks, running for hours a day.

The supplied hose is not very good, as in it doesn't last long. Its a cheapish plastic hose, so i replaced it with a twin wire hose. Their weak point is over heating. When the engine/pump is running and the trigger is not depressed the water will just circulate in the pump, getting hotter and hotter. If you let it get too hot and you pull the trigger then the influx of cold water into the hot pump will cause the alloy head and brass fitments to contract at different speeds leading to a crack in the alloy housing. If you're aware of this and don't let it sit idling they're fine. I got to over three years before i cracked my pump head. And they're available as spares for about £30.
(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1439722282_Screenshot from 2015-08-16 11:37:55.png)
And of course i ran it out my van feedig of my water tank.
-
cheers for replying pal, ive looked at those cheap pressure washers for what i need as you know and your comments have made think about one now, can i ask are they strong pressure wise and can you feed soap chemicals through them etc?
-
I'd suggest you buy that one
-
cheers for replying pal, ive looked at those cheap pressure washers for what i need as you know and your comments have made think about one now, can i ask are they strong pressure wise and can you feed soap chemicals through them etc?
Yes you can feed chemicals though them, there is a short chemical pick up attached to them. And yes they are 2200 PSI. I've cleaned allsorts with mine, small patios etc... they're great. I'm not suggesting they're an alternative to a proffesional power washing set up, but for what you're doing, or going to do they're fine.
-
Here's a video of one in action. (not my video).
https://youtu.be/vqZcw7Om8kA
They're commonly known as "Nielson 2200 PSI " pressure washers. They come with different nozzles too, which are quick release on the end.
-
Personally I would not waste my money on that as is cheap china crap but each to their own I guess.
Taking on a new contract the first this I would be looking at is a reliable washer fit for purpose not something that is cheap and worry if it's going to breakdown on a job or not. Then have all the hassle that comes with it if it does.
-
i suppose it depends on what your using it for and how long, im talking 2-3 months max to use along side my wfp setup not full time, as i said for that price i can throw it away!
if it was long term then i have no doubt i'd be best getting a honda or something similar and if the contract becomes permanent then its definately something i need to consider but i'll see as we go on!
i'll check that video now you posted!

-
Any one can import them direct for about 100USD ;D
The bonus of buying it from a UK supplier is redress i suppose ?
-
It depends on the suppliers acceptance of a warranty claim.
Some can be funny others are fine, it depends on their warranty procedure.
-
just looking back through this post and forgot about the washers you offered ben, barring the honda which would you say is best on my budget bearing in mind my intended use,no driveways etc.
is there much difference from buying the £300 washer from you opposed to forking out the extra £££ for the vanguard?
also what warranty do they have, how much would postage be if i couldnt collect and do they come ready to put fuel in and use?
sorry for so many questions but i want to be certain im buying a decent reliable washer for the job and i just dont know much about them!
-
Drop me an email and I'll get some pictures over to you. :)
Warranty is usually a year on the pumps held by interpump.
On engines it depends on the Manufacturer usually one two or three years :)
All machines come oiled up and ready to go.
Carriage is £30 anywhere in mainland uk excluding high highland because TNT are scared to go there and ask for danger money ... Ridiculous because the people are lovely :D
-
HI ben Marriott, looking for advise on buying ahot box to mate up against a 390 honda pressure washer 21 litre. can you advise at all. thank you
-
cheers ben ive emailed you ;)
-
thanks for replying Ben ive messaged you back.
after all that internet browsing im definately gonna have one off you lol
-
did you get my email Ben??
-
Ben, what is the best price i can get a Honda GX90 , in the UK for atm. theres so many different prices out there for the same washer.
When you get the waranty on these hondas do you have to send them back to your supplier, or do Honda have a national service centres in the UK where you can get it seen to if it goes wrong for some reason with your pressure washer
-
Hi :)
The beauty of Honda and Indeed Briggs is that their are HUNDREDS of authorised service centres for you to take them into if problems arise - it saves a lot of shipping etc.
The problem with the a lot of engines is their are not many dealers, your never far from a Honda mower centre who will look at any warranty and service queries that may arise!
-
An engine is an engine it either works or it doesn’t... Most with a bit of mechanical knowledge can figure out what ‘s wrong with it or know of a mechanic that can sort it without having to take it to a service centre…It’s not rocket science you know ;D
-
However if you do take it to bits and cock it up thats the warranty out the window :D
-
