Never used one myself but sounds like they are way too fragile.
Don't that way you have to extend the pole to clamp it do your head in as I know it would me?

I love mine.

Only a month old though so time will tell.

My extreme 18 is nearly 6 months old and looks pretty much brand new.

Been using the banded Extreme since it came out - brilliant. However, if you're that ham fisted you managed to break three in  the past then maybe a scaffold pole would be better for you?
If you use them for what they are designed for ie. cleaning windows with lightweight brushes then I don't see a problem. Shove an Aquadapter on the end or push windows shut/lever them over garage roofs and eventually something's going to go. The banding is there to reduce wear not to strengthen the pole.

I love aquadapters and sills brushes, and I think an slx and not an extreme is ideal.

i gently close windows with my extreme every day.obviously if their very stiff i clean them while open.i also used to use an AD and never snapped a section.

the metal bands are ace.my 25 footer still looks brand new used every day(8 months old).

That's the trouble you have to be too gentle when you're working with an extreme.
You also need to use a slight pressure to clean now and again, that's where an Slx rules supreme.
Also extreme brushes are not robust enough for me, so a sill brush ( my fave)
is not ideal for an me with an extreme pole,IMHO

I have the extreme 35 an 47, I use the 47 quite a lot, I read above about the clamping points and the first time I used It I thought the same, this only lasts for the first day as u adapt to it no probs, orange band is half way an the red band is fully extended.

I do really like these poles and anyone who isn't happy with there's ....... I will take it off them at second hand prices.

As mentioned above, an SLX-18 is the same weight at the Xtreme 22 (literally to the gramme).  Buy one of those and an SLX-25 and you'll have a lightweight pole for use on 95% of your cleans plus a pole for longer reach jobs for less than the cost of the Xtreme.

Vin
Agreed, I use an 18' SLX which reaches almost all my work, employee uses SLX 22  and I have a SLX 30 for a few high jobs. Why use a 25' pole all day, every day when it's not needed.

depends on your work.an 18 footer is just too short for me.a 22 is also too short for some work every day.a 25 footer is just right.saves going back to the van for another longer pole.saving time.the xtreme 25 is light enough to use all day/every day.

The shorter closed  length of an 18 makes for an easier working day.

I've been using an extreme 25 for 4 years now.  Only had to replace the top section, after it hard worn at the clamping point.
I clean it about once a year and never wipe my pole hose.  It falls on the floor about once a week.
They are not too fragile, mine has been battered and never broken.  Now with the metal bands I expect it to last even longer.
25 for me is the perfect height as I can reach town houses. Any higher and use the 47 extension (about 3 times a month)

That good to know but myself I can't justify the added cost for something that might break.
Even Alex has mentioned they are not for everyone

I used an SLX 18 for a time but developed neck problems. I reckon you're better with a 22 and standing further back so that there is less strain on the neck. A carbon gooseneck with an Extreme brush is a pretty light combo.

30' Extreme for me - gets used for just about everything including skylights.
18' SLX for gutters and conservatory roofs
44' Extreme plus extensions for the high stuff.

Can't see much advantage using an Extreme shorter than 25'
