Title: using domestic customers equipment
Post by: sharonanderson on July 31, 2015, 07:06:22 pm
Hi, what do people do in a situation where we use the customers equipment (hoover in this case) and it breaks down? Normally I just tell the customer and they get it repaired but Ive got a lady now who is saying I need to get hers fixed/replaced as we must have broken it, the brush bar has stopped working and she says there are sparks flying. Its a DC24 Dyson, used weekly for at least 3 years that Ive cleaned for her but Im guessing its a lot older.

Difficult one this, a new brush bar motor is about £25 plus fitting cost if you can't do it yourself.
A new dc 24 complete brush bar is £65 straight swap with the old one.
Its almost cheaper to get a refurb one of ebay for that money.
We never use the customers equipment so we never get into this problem.
We have a vac for non smokers and pet homes only and another for smokers/pet homes.
Sorry can't be of much help.
If you don't want to upset your customer then its a repair or second hand replace. Then we would suggest you use your own in the future.

In future if the customer says you can use their equipment  just have to say
Due to insurance purposes I'm only insured for the use of my own equipment
