this is aquatec ddp 7800 just a different label
try to give them a call :

not many sell those pumps nowadays - cleaning spot, blade right....

I would strip the assembly down and see if Maplins has a replacement. It looks as though it will have a microswitch in there if it is a rebadged Aquatec pump.

Careful not to loose any hair springs etc when taking everything apart.

Yes, but if you buy the Ionics one you will have peace of mind its a quality/safe product.

Sod that then !
 I'd sooner go buy myself a new shurflo pump for a few quid more.
