Quoted on a new shop yesterday, but some one had been the day before to clean. I don`t like to run chaps work down as I have seen the lads around. My god its was the worst job have ever seen runs from the top of the frames no detailing at all. Starting to clean from the middle of the glass so blade marks. Frames dirty on a new shop. I know we are not rated by the general public, but boys take pride in what you do. I just could not believe what they turned out so been a 1st or 2nd clean it can only get worse. Well Quarter light you are not the only one seen bad in our area. Should I follow them and quote on all there work.

There seems to be no reall money to be made in shop fronts thesedays as everyone is trying to undercut each other so you get alot of slap dash tradders about for sure.
No pun intened with you user name slap dash

Are you sure !!!!!
I have lots of shops and can run £300 worth of work off in a morning starting about 4am - noon.
There's money to be made in trad or wfp
As for the standards of some window cleaners work, it's shocking. I have job adverts out all the time for window cleaners, and the standard of there work doesn't get them past the first window.
I get the famous " ye mate...... Been doing it 10 years " so I say 10 years .....( pause ) so you know what your doing when it comes to cleaning all the frames and any run off or excess water...... And any mess on the floor ye ............. " ye mate no probs " ok al pick u up at half 3 in the morning ..........
........... 9/10 are sent to find the bus stop by 4am the odd 1 will see the day out but not employment material.
I started a lad last week and the only reason he's still here is because I am up the wall with work but I already told him he's got to improve and I am going to keep looking for staff, he has to be better than anyone who gets interviewed.
It's hard were I am to get good lads, in hindsight I should have dropped job opportunities leaflets off in the local schools about April, for anyone looking to go into work direct from school and done the training myself.

I would want more than 300 for an 8 hour day starting at stupid o'clock if it was me. I take it you have to pay the chaps wages out of that too?
Sounds like you are a hard grafter so respect for that but there is no way on this earth I would start work at 4am unless it was really worth my while to do so.

imo, shops are about volume and location, ie quite a few in an area.
Matty why not subby it out to someone you can trust
-
Come on Bob............
U know how it is........ Am looking to expand not sub out.
Smurf - I have a few contracts ( one I was refering to above gets done 4 times a week ....... That's 4 times that rate just for morning ........ Are u sure u would turn away £1200 a week for a few mornings ??? With 32 hrs labour )
That's just a small piece of my round my days don't end there ;D
-
Matt now you said it that way sounds alot more appealing but still the early starts must be a killer surely?
-
Yes ur right .... I hate the mornings .... But I been doing it for last 15 plus years so I just get in with it.
I do prefer to work through the night were I can but not all jobs are accessible

I cover anytype of cleaning work, been pressure washing this morning after window cleaning, and after me shower am going back out to clean a load of garage shutter doors with lots of plastic windows, bit of virosol and wfp the lot down.
That's 12 shutters at £20 each and I reckon will take bout 4-5 hours but if take longer I won't rush them,
Whether it's wfp trad pressure washing as long as you earning a decent rate and keep busy who cares
-
You sound a very busy chap for sure....nice one Matt ;)
