Title: Phone book directory
Post by: Jason Hedges on May 05, 2006, 10:01:42 pm
Hi all,

Had the rep call today from the BT phone book about advertising in the directory section.

Has anyone advertised in it? What return have you had, is it woth it and is there a best way to knock them down on the price?

Any comments greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Jason.

My advice would be not to touch it. I went in it over 2 yrs ago, they made a mess of the add witch was over £600 after i told them i would not pay, the price was halfed. Hardly got any work out of it, the only directory adds i have now are the FREE one liners they put in. Sorry for being negative others may have fared better, just telling you my exp with it.

                                           Take Care John

Spent £3000 over 17 books, response 5 calls, only advertise what you would look in for numbers or tradesmen as a rule of thumb. Best performers YP & Thomson although others may disagree, leaflets, local rags.

I seem to find that it's the older generation that will usually refer to the BT phone book. Not many jobs out of it during the year but the older generation are good payers. At least enough to cover the cost of advertising for the past two years since BT revamped the book. It's not a money spinner yet but it's all about market recognition.....
