Oh dear

So now we can pay £90,000 to keep him in Prison instead. The guy needs to be punished but the decision just exacerbates the £35k he nicked into £125k and then we still have to pay for rehabilitation. The law is an a$$

That's is unreal. Stupid doesn't come into it.

4000 football pitches ! Certainly dose sound like Jamie Pearson with h his team of Cimex machines ! Lol

Doesn't make sense. They said he was getting VAT money for buying this machinery but he was only claiming an income of £12k a year?
Does no one know him?
-
He was probably making up purchase invoices, therefore the vat he was allegedaly paying out would be more than he was collecting on sales invoices, eg, if he was paying out £10k per vat quarter and collecting £5k, then HMRC would send him a cheque for £5k. :o

That's exactly what he was doing Andrew. Not unusual for some startup businesses who have very high startup costs buying loads of equipment etc.
However Carpet Cleaning doesn't come into that category and would have been flagged up immediately. Guys an idiot.
-
Not exactly brain of Britain yet he managed to get away with it for 2 years so just imagine the frauds going on out there carried out by more sophisticated criminals that C&E can not find so easily and is siphoned off abroad must run into hundreds of millions.
Does seem a piddling amount to be jailed for though.
-
Doesn't say how long for though, probably something stupid like 4 week. Lesson learnt, ridiculous.

another customer lost
