Title: Maximum PPM to use DI?
Post by: jo5hm4n on July 20, 2015, 10:22:28 pm
So i might be moving to a new house in the next few weeks, checked the tap today and it's at like 160ppm, where i live is mostly a soft water area though, can i still use the tap straight to DI, then into 25L Barrells or will this use and waste my resin insanely fast?

How long should say a 6.5L size DI Vessel last before the resin starts to rise from say 0 to say 5-10+?

Don't really want to use RO Unit until i get a van mount setup so will i be okay to carry on use DI from around 160ppm or is that asking too much?

Advice greatly appreciated!

Not long, hopefully someone will pop up a link as gardiners used to do a calculator on resin use to tdi

I think you would be lucky to get 600 litres per fill of that size resin bottle

I had a few probs with RO and had a little bash at di only

Water from tap running slowly was at 70-73, I started off with a small 6 L di bottle and water was 000 great half hour later 033 ???

I think for di the bigger bottles are better and the smaller ones are great for after RO or as double triple or quadruple di set up  ;D

If I check the TDS on my hot water straight after turning the tap on its around double the PPM and the same goes for the outside tap. Letting it run for a minute and its back to norm.
Maybe worth checking after its ran for a while, if you've not already.

If you use a double DI setup you will make the resin last longer, think it work out at around 25-30% saving for us .

I think that even if I had high tds, would still use DI as it is so simple to operate !

mine is 29 tds coming out of the tap and my missus s is 80-120 tds.its a good excuse not to move in with her!! ;D

i use a 25L DI vessel then a 2.7L vessel in tandem when double DI.

The 25L lasts about 3 to 3 and a half months before needing changing.
