Hi lads,
Got an idea to speed up gutter cleans using a soap dispenser rather than either a backpack/hand sprayer/ dunk brush in bucket. Just whack one of these between hose and pole and off we go. Anyone ever seen one, i haven't but i was thinking one of those hozelock feeder things.
-
That doesn't make any sense !

Yes you can get an unger inline soap dispenser and a similar version off fleabay, TBH neither worked very well, ok if your using thicker fluids like washing up liquid, but thinner stuff like virosol and TFR tend to get washed out very very quickly so you don't cover a very big area with soap, overall they were just hassle

Here's one that looks like the unger version

Cheers Daz, didn't think of the over diluting problem with TFR. Back to the bucket it is then :'(

been useing a "dispensor" for a while now it works a treat, drop me an e mail and i can maybe sort one out for you,kevin.coggan@virginmedia.com

Will do Kevin, how are you getting over the dilution problem that has been mentioned though?
-
don't have that problem fin
-
I have the same system from Asda and |I find as the product in reduced in the small bottle the mix becomes weaker.
-
As mentioned already I've also found them usless too if you want to apply a constant dilution rate of soap/chems to a surface.
-
Instead of buying a backpack electric sprayer you can build a simple pump box for next to nothing using bits from the likes of fleebay.
-
A larger V11 controller has been developed that can switch a second pump and be used for soap injection . Using a n Rf radio remote the soap pump can be switched on/off or be set to run for a pre set period
, The Delivery pump then comes back in giving pure water for rinsing
-
Seems a clever idea but how does it work regarding hoses etc with a van mount?
Meaning if running a 100m hose having both soap and pure water going through it is going to take a while for the soap to come through then be removed from the hose completely to be able to rinse down properly surely?
I'm also not convinced that a remote would work very well in some situations either so I would probably end up losing my rag if it did not work properly.

The larger controller was developed for this type of purpose. In the US they system the controller sits on is for van mounted systems. They use a dual hose so that the soap and pure do not mix in the line.

Way too complicated just trad the bloody window instead in the vid ;D
I find it's bad enough using one hose let alone 2 attached to a pole running back to a van mount.

Must admit I was a little surprised at the twin hose route, They have gone with a light weight twin moulded line. I am hoping to have a close look at the US interclean in November.
It came about due to cleaning frequency in the US and the fact they wanted to be able to put soap on the window whine keeping both feet planted on Terra firma.

Yes I can understand that for sure regarding irregular residental filthy cleans but still seems way too complicated when all you have to do is apply something like ecover on the brush head if you want to use soap as a boost then scrub and rinse. Job done... ::)roll
It also suprises me that the guy's in the states don't use hot/warm pure water like I do as is very popular here in the UK.

Getting back on topic you can make a basic portable type sprayer to apply chems to gutters etc for next to nothing even with a remote if you wanted if using an electric pump. Or you could just connect an electric backpack sprayer to the same wfp if you wanted to soap, scrub and rinse even using two pole hoses if you wanted.

for applying cleaning chemicals(virosol/TFR ,etc)to f/s/g,conny roofs or just very dirty windows and frames i use any of these
spray bottle
5L pressure sprayer
backpack
you can over complicate this job if you want but these work for me.
-
Agree but you know what the yanks are like with their toys...no wonder most of them look like they have swallowed a whole cow. Also every ladder has a weight limit too ;D
I'm not fat I'm just big boned ::)roll

Seriously though wfp can turn anyone into a lard arse if you're not careful… just look at me. ;D

Neat idea Ian and good to see some thought has gone into it even if it is a bit overkill. I think its back to dunk in bucket for me or i might try the back pack. The whole point of my first suggestion is saving time and it could almost be even between those two when you factor in filling backpack, taking out of van (charging once in a while too) compared to TFR in bucket. Just a shame the inline dispenser won't work very well. Oh well back to the drawing board :)

it doesnt get much easier than simply applying your chosen chemical to your brush head using a spray bottle.even filling the backpack with a chemical mix doesnt take long(esp if you do it the night before)and plug your main pole in and apply to filthy f/s/g then swap back to pure.
if you price well for add on jobs an extra couple of mins spent applying chemicals doesnt bother you.
i did a yearly conny roof clean this morning and used a 5l pressure sprayer that already had a strong virosol mix in.a couple of sprays on the roof.dead easy and quick.i was all done after 90 mins (from pulling up to driving away.)
