As the topic says does any one do this
or buy another controller

I think people do, but for the cost of a controller why would you ?
You can get dual pump controllers now

no, the controller senses the load on the pump to shut down.
if you have 2 pumps they may run, but only shut down when the pressure switch is tripped.

Tony Ideally if you are looking to run two pumps then the suggestion would be one controller per pump. This is more efficient and allows both poles to operate independently of each other. The controllers are max rated to 10 amps so running two pumps will place a big load on the controller (EG run flow at 60 -70 each pump might draw 4 amps each )
Secondly as GTO states there will be some issue. Dead ending one line will stop both hose lines as the controller will stop both pumps. Calibration would be difficult as the controller would need to b calibrated with both poles open and pumps running. You are likely to find that as you extend poles that the controller may unexpectedly DE the pumps or be slow stopping them. This could mean you have high pressure in one or both lines putting a strain on the connectors. It could work short term however if this is a long term investment. Your system will be much more efficient with the addition of a second controller or a dual unit
