Title: Aqua tap users
Post by: trippyboy on July 17, 2015, 10:08:29 pm
Hi, How do you maintain your aquatap?
I'm on my second aqua tap allready this year, i love it but im finding they get too stiff after a while even if i oil it with 3 in 1 oil in the crevices.
I'm sure i read on here a while back that there is a way into the  mechenism to maintain it but i dont know how to.
Cheers trippy

Love em,

You have two options, firstly you need to remove the 2 pins and take apart for the correct lubrication to be carried out, once apart I use silicone grease, smear it over the 2 o rings then reassemble it will be like new.
If you find in general the aquatap is a little tight for your liking remove one of the o rings this gives less resistance to the twist action, you find that this is too sensitive when in operation.

The whole operation takes less than five minutes

Hi Darran,  have you thought of putting the silicon grease under the o rings instead of on the O'rings?
This should protect the silicon grease more so you won't have to apply it as often. You won't get that same tightening up after a week or two you normally get though.

Good idea, I'll try that on the next service

What that does is allows the ring to turn in the groove instead of turning against the wall of the bigger piece.  If the top of the ring and underneath are both greased it should reduce friction as well.
