Hi guys,
A friend called me over this evening as he was having trouble setting up his new booster pump for 4040.
This is the pump-

Now to me it all looks set up correctly but what's happening is once the pump is switched on, the pressure slowly climbs to 50 psi then it shuts off and stays that way and the pressure drops right down again.
10 mins later the pump switches on again then repeats the same process.
My own pump is different in that it doesn't have the holding tank so I'm not sure how this particular pump works.
According to the instructions the tank has to be pressurized to an operating pressure of between 22-43 psi. My mate said he used a foot pump and pressurized it to 22psi. Could it be that the tank needs pressurizing higher to say 40psi to work correctly?
Any help appreciated, he's just spent over £900 on a 4040 set up with pump and is only producing the same amount of pure as his 250gpd set up at the moment!
As you can probably imagine he's not a happy bunny ;D

Looking at the specs the pump is not suitable for the intended purpose as it states clearly the operating pressure is only 43 psi.
I would recommend he takes it back and buys this one instead: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cbm240e-1in-multi-stage-230v-booster-pum

Strange, cleaning spot sell the same pump which is recommended for use for 4040 systems.
Clearly 43psi won't be enough for a Merlin let alone a 4040.
It has a 46m head which I thought would boost the pressure up to around 80psi.

As per AndyM's advice. Take it back and buy the one Andy suggested. The booster Andy suggested is the one recommended by GAPS Water for 4040's.
According to a few posters on here over the years, the booster pump with the tank doesn't work.

Thanks guys, tried again tonight and the pump is utter ****.
He's going to send it back and get the one you guys suggested.
Anyone have any experience of returning items to machine Mart? Would they offer full refund or credit

If it's a business purchase they don't have to accept a return.
