i just use a standard personal account :)
dont really need a biz account, though the banks sometimes lead you to think that you do!! ::)

Part of running the business, and you don't miss it anyway with everything else going in and out of an account.
A few quid....who cares?

What's your problem with your current bank?
Personally, I can't see the problem with using a personal current account for your banking.
I'm with the Halifax and get charged around £5.00 per month for going into my overdaft; nothing for banking cheques.
They're open on a Saturday morning, so I do my banking then.
Once a year at Christmas, I give the girls in the bank a tin of Quality Street, for being a pain in the bottom each week with all my cheques.

We are a partnership, it's a legal requirement.

I pay bank charges, but I charge every customer who wants to pay by cheque £1 to cover bank charges, 35p for each cheque, that leaves me 65p profit for each cheque. but I must admit I have to pay 50p car park charges, never mind still in profit ;D

Personally, I can't see the problem with using a personal current account for your banking.

All my commercial jobs that want to pay by BACS have always asked for my 'business' banking details. I suppose having one does give you a professional image, but I admit I would prefer to use my personal account. Also, my bank manager likes to see me now and again asking why I'm not mixing it with the likes of Bill Gates, the silly bleeder.

I have charged my customers £1 for each cheque, for the past eight years, I always told them I pay 75p bank charges and 50p carpark fees, so £1 is still cheap, and for the past eight years I have had the same customers pay by cheque. If I take on any new customers I always warn them before hand.
I have had customers go to pay me by cheque, and when I tell them about the charge, they sometimes manage to find the cash ::) I dont mind either way cash or cheque does me,
I know of some wc who charge £2 and get it.
I did look into credit card payment, but the charges are too high. hope this answers your question? ;)

I have two accounts that pay me by BACs, and they just asked me for my bank details to do it!
In a previous job I was the equivallent to a payroll manager for an Infantry battalion of 600 soldiers.
I paid many BACs payments to lots of different organisations and soldiers.
All I required was a sort code and account number.

I'm with the free banking using current account. You do get the odd customer who gives you a funny look when you ask them to make the cheque payable to "Joe Bloggs" instead of your business name. Must think you're on the fiddle, but when you explain that you're just doing it to save on bank charges they seem to understand.

By the time you win an account, it's too late for them to sack you just because your payment account is a personal one (as if they would anyway).
And if you do a decent job, they won't sack you because you have a 'personal account'.
I get many cheques made payable to my business name, but I just cross it out, initiall either side of the 'crossings' and write in my name.
My bank doesn't mind.
