Okay, after seeing Shanes post on here, thought i would quote i quick story i had from Canvassing a few weeks ago.
So i was Canvassing this massive estate, full of bungalows and houses for young/old people so quite a mixture really. I picked up loads of work and took me few weeks to canvas it a few hours each week. Then i went to this house which i could tell needed cleaning, knocked the door they wanted a quote so i worked it out and gave it to them. This isn't me ripping them off this was standard pricing. It was a 4/5 bedroom detached house with a porch and a 3 sided conny plus garage windows too. I quoted £23 which i thought was pretty fair!
She told me i was a conman and how could i live with ripping off older people? She said her last window cleaner charged her £6 for the whole lot....
£6 for a house that would almost take me an hour? What sort of planet or people/window cleaners living on to work for that. I had no answer to her, so just laughed told her to have a nice evening and walked away lol.
Any of you guys had any funny stories about ridiculously cheap pricing? Oh if that wasn't bad enough the same guy that does her house charges £3 for a bungalow and 50p extra if it has a conny? rofl!

I never listen to customers that say their last cleaner done them for peanuts, she was just trying it on.
As soon as she had started her rant I would have walked off without even bidding her the time of day, you don't
need them types on your round for any money.

Sooooo......
They needed cleaning...?
The last window cleaner charged a whopping £6.........!
My reply would have been either, so when did you last see him ( usually at this point I've been told the last guy, for some unknown reason keeps failing to turn up ::)roll ) or well, you get what you pay for, thank you and goodbye ;D
Your price if anything, sounds cheap, unfortunately in this (service) industry a percentage of people will always try it on or think you should be working for next to nothing, they themselves may only be paid £7 to £8 ph paye and think giving you £6 is a fair price, but as we know being self employed is far more than the time on the glass.
From experience if you want to say anything, then keep it calm and not directed at them, like "your neighbours have found my prices fair and the service excellent" but overall these ignorant types will never be persuaded by any justification so don't let it bother you, don't show them it bothers you, walk away knowing your best off without this type of customer

I was told recently that last window cleaner was £7.00 and reliable, however they went with me at £17.00 as they thought I would do the frames etc, you never can tell

I usually don't even bother when they start saying my old window cleaner only used to charge 6 quid. I just say 'I remember when it used to be 10p to get on a bus...but times change!

I priced up a 4 bed semi with conny today the owner said the last guy retired and he only charged £4 .
she said he was about 85 lol
my reply was well no wonder he was that age when he retired charging them prices lol

Live near Rhuddlan/Rhyl area but my round is spread out over a few towns.

Yes i don't usually give those sort of people the time of day, sometimes i win customers over that used to pay such a little amount, but you can usually tell by the attitude of the person and the way they are talking to you, which will usually be aggressive to start with i find. Swings and roundabouts, not working for peanuts when i have enough work to keep me satisfied!

Interesting....after you saying that you will just get some only after a one-off now pretending they want a regular clean ;D
I think it's far better not to mention you don't do one-off's in media like websites etc as you never know what might turn up and you can always still say no if you want.
