Title: FAO Ben, adding a bigger fuel tank.
Post by: Rob@Blast off on July 05, 2015, 09:41:36 pm
As above I need to either modifiy my frame or move my fuel tank as its a pain to fill up so if I move it I may aswell get a bigger tank that I can just fill at the petrol station.
Am I right in thinking this is a fuel pump?

Or will I still need to gravity feed it?

It is a pump :) so will be fine if not on gravity.
I would try to gravity feed it though - makes the filters happier :)

Ok great I'm looking for a tank at the moment but was wondering if I could use a 20l jerry can for the time being?

Look at a pro cart set up as they use the case pressure pumps to run a column/floor mounted fuel tank

A jerry can will work. The yanks use jerry cans.

You can get an aluminium one made pretty cheap.

As in go-carts ?
Been looking at marine tanks but haven't found one the right shape and size, pulled the fuel off today then added a longer length of clear pipe into a 5l can of the floor it was trying to suck it up but not quite enough suction so I'm currently toying with mounting a 20l Jerry can on the side of the frame and get someone to braze an outlet on it.

I did think about a custom tank but presumed it would cost to much but you know what they say about presumption...

Make sure you braze it before putting the fuel in ;)
