Customer text to say that since my last visit they have had a conservatory built - they've asked me to clean the roof.
.............. for £2 extra! :o
-
Must be an incredibly small conservatory!

Dump and replace Dave, dump and replace!
One of mine asked me "could you clean the UPVC frames on the front of the house" 3 windows and a door. Me, " No problem, £8 for the windows, so let's just call it £50 for the windows and pvc . Okay great. She texts me when I've finished, " the frames look great, but I thought you said £15". Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I did say £50. Still waiting to get paid, been working for her for two years. End of relationship I feel!

I did something similar the other day. This lady is a £20 customer, conservatory on the end of a ground floor extension, she texts me the night before asking if I could wipe a cloth over the gutters....
So I say, would you like me to clean the roof whilst I'm on the extension too? 'Yes' she says 'that'd be great'...
Finish the job ( an extra 30 mins or so)
Get a text an hour later saying 'thanks Mark, they look great, I've stuck an extra fiver in, see you next month'!!! :o

It's your own fault. You should never do anything extra without having a price nailed down first.

I know, I know! Just thought I'd share my dumbness, don't worry, it won't be happening again.

Or the job nailed down!
About a year back one of my solid customers says to me, 'Could you clean my friends flat upstairs.' He gestures to the flat above and to the side of his. I confirmed with him, pointing to the flat. 'He's a good chap you'll have no nonsense with him, great fella.' He says. So I spent around 1 hr 15 mins cleaning this really minging flat. The flat looked real nice when I'd finished. I had quoted accordingly and been assured by my customer that the price I'd stated was acceptable. Then I called numerous times for the money and couldn't find him in. I eventually called back to my customer and asked about this mate of his. My customer says his mate has been waiting for me to clean his flat and was hoping I was OK. You guessed it, he'd directed me to the wrong flat. There was an apology from my customer, but of coarse I didn't get paid.
I felt pretty dumb too!

Just goes to show we are all human and make mistakes also can get taken for a ride. Regarding pricing some customers live in a time warp methinks ;D

classic newbie mistake.
ALWAYS give them a price for add on work before you carry any extra work out and that they accept your price.

I reckon that was typo and it should have £200 extra...blinder! ;D
