Looking to upgrade my 18 foot pole to a SLX carbon pole but as the SLX 22 is
Less than £30 more is it worth going for that or is any advantage of the extra reach
Nullified by the extra weight. Most of my work is normal domestic where an 18
Is fine but have a very heavy composite 36 that has to be used for above extensions
So a 22 may be good for some of those situations.

I use an slx18 90% of the time.
I have an smax47 which I use some of the sections to make a 30.
I only use it as a full pole (47) on one job.
maybe you could buy an slx25 or bigger and just lose some of the sections till you need them
Lots of options really, Just depends on the type of jobs you do.

22 is a ideal all rounder better than an 18ft . Spend the extra it will be worth it longterm .

I had an SLX 22 which was brilliant. On the odd houses it was a real struggle to reach over awkward connies etc. I had to use step ladders. I then bought an Extreme 25. The extra 3 foot made a real difference and I can probably reach everything on my round. I then stripped down the SLX 22 to make it 18. Bungalow, easy house pole, whatever. If I was buying again I would get a 25 foot over a 22 foot. Love the SLX and love the Extreme.

Only problem I find using my son's Slx 25 all day, compared to using my 18, closed length is longer and added weight is unnecessary for me as an 18 is ideal for most of my work.
I'm 6 feet two though.
Only get 30 footer out once a day on average.
Horses for courses really.

22 - always take a section off if you wanted to.

Similar to other replies really.
You have to consider what works best for you, your budget and your round and whether your round is likely to change to include bigger properties and whether you want to carry more than one pole on your vehicle etc.
Me for example, most of my round (95%) can be comfortably reached with an 18 foot pole. I do not want to carry a 22/25 foot pole all day for the sake of the 5% that I need it for. I upgraded my everyday pole from a CLX an SLX-18 a year ago and I love it. I have a CLX-22 that has served me well for the 5% that I need it for as it suited my budget when I purchased it and I can just reach my highest work with it. However, I find it a little too flexible when working with it fully extended so now I'm in a position to do so, I'm changing it for an SLX-25 as it will be more rigid and give me a little more reach for my 3 storey work.

18ft slx for me, will clean 95 % of my round, i get the 30ft slx out once every other day, hate it, i rather use a step ladder to clean the odd window i cant reach rather than use the 30.
But as been said previously, only you know what you need on your round

Agreed, I have the same and the SLX30 is as whippy as hell over hard to reach windows.

Just like to add a word of warning, make sure you have a long enough pole so that you don't have to use it with your arms outstretched above your head. Doing this risks injuring the rotary cuff in your shoulder [ball joint], believe be it's painfull and can take a long time before it's right again.
I bought an SLX 25 a month ago having used a 5 meter Harris and SL2 moduler for 8 years. I injured my shoulder using the SLX when I could just as easily opened another section. Now bought an SLX 18ft pole too so my Mrs can lend an occasional hand. I love that pole. For lightness nothing beats the SL2 modular, just a bitch to use high in any wind.
Just keep those hands below shoulder height to avoid injury. cheers Dai

at your age you should treat yourself to an xtreme 25 mate! ;D
i cant manage with a shorter pole for loads of my work.18 ft is way too short and a 22 is too short for quite a few jobs over connys/extensions and even some 1st floor windows.im 6ft 2in as well with long arms! ;D

why not just have both poles in the van at all times? xtreme 18 and 25

Got my SL-X 25 this week and did my first over extension roof with it yesterday. It was so much easier than the CL-X 22, not for length so much as the 22 was long enough for this job. But weight and rigidity and using the supreme med mixed brush was much better.

xtreme 25 for most of my work and an extreme 47 for anything higher. ;)

With the Extreame do you guys put I Aqua Adaptor on it . Or do you use a inline pole hose valve .
I love my Aquaadaptor on my slx 25/30 poles

Honestly, don't put an a/d on an extreme.
You are asking for a snapped section or two.

i had an AD on my first xtreme 25 no probs at all but when i broke 2 aqua-daptors in the space of 6 weeks i binned them and now just use a simple cheap pole hose tap at brush end.
