So i have an SLX 18 with my Pure Freedom trolley system. I have canvassed loads of new big houses later mostly detached 4/5 bedroom.
The problem i am having is reaching the windows above the garage or with deep slanted roofs or above conny roofs.. My pole just does not reach at all so i am having to stand on a 3 tread stepladder just to do the awkward windows, which is then knackering my shoulder and arm because of the awkwardness of it.
Obvious answer is to get a bigger pole but most of my work i can do perfect with a SLX18 so which size pole should i get i dont want to get anything to big for the extra weight. All of my work is domestic and usually low windows apart from the odd window above slanted roofs or above conservatories.
What's the best way to clean such windows? Do you clean them from front on extending the pole as much as needed but creating a more horizontal angle? Or would you stand on a ladder to gain extra height to clean these windows at a less horizontal angle?

Upgrade to an slx 25 you'll reach everything with this and the weight is pretty much the same (300 grams heavier) or get an extra section and make yours a clx 22 ( 300 grams heavier but 3 foot shorter ) and more bendy

Actually just realised my pole is the red one which is the CLX 18 i believe!

If your on a budget then get clx 27 and use it as and when.
If not a budget, then the extreme 25 will do all your work, and will mean no aches what so ever.

I think you can buy another two sections to make it a clx 27, and you can add the sections when you need them ;D

Bit of a pain though. Taking off end caps and taking out the pole hose, just for the odd window on a house.
It wouldn't be me.
I'm not like most though. Lol.

I would avoid using a ladder to gain more height as far as is possible. Use a longer more rigid pole (SLX 22 or 25) if your budget will allow it. Though I found my CLX 18 rigid enough for most work, I find my CLX 22 very whippy when fully extended. Though this isn't too bad when cleaning the top of three story town houses it becomes difficult to control when reaching over large conservatories. I will be changing it as soon as possible for an SLX22.

If you don't want to be removing caps buy the bottom section of your pole and the extensions.
Then you just remove your bottom section and add the extensions.

If you can afford it then get the extreme 25. Stick an extreme medium mixed brush on it and you will be amazed at how different it is. You will definitely speed up your normal cleans and be able to reach any awkward windows fairly easily. It's a big expense but the speed alone should help pay for it. And your arms and shoulders will feel much better. I also had an slx 22 and to be honest the slx 25 is better. That 3 feet does make a difference.
As for technique, with an extreme 25 you'll decide whether you want to clean side on or front on. Personally, if I can, I will clean front on over a connie as I don't like twisting my body and shoulders if I can help it.

This section of glass is tricky at the bottom were I am is only 2ft wide
Bought extreme 47 and 35 off Paul from on ere, without them we wouldn't of been able to do this job.

Whilst we are on topic, i am currently using a Super-Lite Medium Mixed Dual Trim brush, would you advise anything better? I am looking for something that will do the job a little better and faster if possible! Also i use Pencil Jets, is it worth me trying out Fan Jets?
I use very low flow with the Pure Freedom Trolley because i dont want to waste water if i can help it, will fan jets waste more water?

Fan jets will need more flow rate to operate properly, than pencil jets. If its too low they will not fan but spray like pencil jets.

If you want to work quicker then ignore the brush for the minute. You said you use a 'very low flow'! This will slow you down. You need to up the flow rate so that the speed of your rinsing matches the scrubbing action of your cleaning. If that makes sense. Supposing you scrub like a madman, you can only (rinse the window) clean the window in the time it takes for the correct amount of 'very low flow' water to rinse of all the dirt. So probably need to up the flow. And visa vera, if you were 90 years old and took 3 mins to scrub a pane of glass with a massive water flow, you would be wasting loads of water. There is a happy (fairly quick medium). You have to find it by practising on your own windows. Hope that makes sense. PS stick with pencil jets for the minute.
PPS If you use an aquatap or similar that will save loads of water.
