Title: BE 1800WAW Whirlaway spares
Post by: russ_clark on June 18, 2015, 07:06:42 pm
Hi Any of you pressure washing guys point me in the right direction please.
Got one of the above about 13 months old done a few jobs with it but to cut a long story short
it has stopped spinning round? had a friend (engineer) look at it and the bearing are knackered
because someone did not keep it topped with grease (me!)
Were back to me supplier and they do not have any spares in stock and quoted ££££'s for spares
about a weeks wait? offered to sell me new machine and give me £100 back against my one?
Is there a supplier that carries spares that I can order from online?
Thanks for your help
Russ

Which bits do you need? No reason anything Whirlaway should not be able to get to you next day!
Two bearings are £25 plus carriage
what else do you need?

The inlet kit may have taken a bit of a hit. The shaft should be relatively free of score marks and the same thickness all the way up.

Post a couple of pictures if you have them - WAW are so simple to re build ;)

Bens price is about right for a bearing

A lot of people charge outrageous prices for bearings when all you need to do is take the number etched/printed on it or measure the bore - o/d and width then ring someone like BSL and they will supply the correct bearings of goos quality like SKF for a couple of quid

Thanks Darren

Only problem is I am useless at anything mechanical unfortunately.
I would rather pay someone to fix it properly than me try and bodge it.

Christ that's had some hammer!
I must admit we get a lot of the heads posted to us for rebuild, the shaft looks VERY worn, bearing shell will need pressing off :)

Same here mate, I would just post it direct to Rutland pumps and let Ben do the repairs.......p&p will prob be what you will spend in fuel running round looking for someone to do it, and if it's got to be pressed, there's no chance of doing a diy unless you have a machine

Lithium Grease is usually sufficient ;)

Sounda like bearings.  Mine went the other week. Just go to your local bearing shop.  The bearings are nothing special just standard bearings.  Cost me £20 for a pair

Oh and in my case bearings didn't need pressing off, they just slid on and off. Again take to local car garage and they'll do it for next to nothing.  Mine don't even charge me but he does service, mot and fix my van
