How would you respond?
Dear Mr Gold,
I enclose cheque for £12.00 to cover the cost of cleaning windows on 11.6.15.
Can I ask in future if the car is not on the drive and you get no response by knocking on the door please do not clean the windows.
Having to send a cheque is a chore - we are rarely both out at the same time, but it seems more often lately we both are out when you call.
Regards
P. XXXX
They know I offer payment on line ...
It is a four weekly/monthly job.
-
Thats atrocious. Bin em and dont worry about replacing, they're worthless.

I've had same thing and gone along with it till I've called when the car is there and they have still said, 'can you leave them this time.'
Messers! Ditch em!
-
Remind them again they can pay online- like the majority of your customers do, it's not an option to clean outside of normal working hours ie if people are working 9-5 , once you've turned up, you can't simply go on to the next? what if the next house says that? you just gonna drive from house to house in hope of someone being in?? make them see sense 😉
-
Ignore.
If they ever ask can you clean them again,
''My price is based on a regular 4 weekly visit.
If you'd prefer an on demand service I have a different one off on demand price of [in this case] £36.''

I like that one! ;D

Dear P. XXXX
Thank you for sending a cheque for £12 as payment for the last window clean.
Unfortunately I am unable to miss cleans if a customer is out as all customers are on a set monthly schedule.
I do offer the option of online payment, which would save you having to send a cheque in the post.
We look forward to seeing you next month.
Regards,
Granville Gold

If they still don't like it then bin them!
-
Just tell them you will no longer be cleaning their windows as you find it such a chore!

My response would be: 'No problem, just give me a call when you need me again'. When they call, decide whether you want to do them or not.

Bin 'em. I wouldn't even let them know; phoning customers to cancel is a chore.
There's some idiots about.
-
tell em you will take 6 in advance so will save them the chore ..... if they say no which they prob will then
"I am sorry Mr Oneofusisalwaysinnormallyexceptwhenyoucall we can no longer live up to your expectations and suggest you find another window cleaner who aint as busy as wot I am" ;)
-
if they cant be bothered to send a cheque or pay online then i couldnt be bothered to clean their windows!
im in a very comfortable position workwise.i pick and choose the work i take on.
id dump them no problem. ;D
-
Tell them its a chore to turn up and have to leave it if they are not in.
Ask them if they can pay online, if they cant tell them its cheque or nothing then, or if its not too out of your way you could just put up with it if you want/need the work.
I have a custie that out of the way she pays online, her next door neighbour also has her windows cleaned but will only pay cash, so i only do her when i catch her in as i refuse to go collecting. That custie sometimes hides, so doesnt get done often but becaus ei ned the work i put up with it...for now
-
Explain they have a monthly slot in your round and is priced accordingly etc etc
But especially for them You could offer to text the night before & ask for them to leave payment in a secure place outside if they are going out.
Then if they still mess you about, dump

I like this a lot! And if they see me in the road and ask why I've dropped them I can just say it was too much of a chore to go out of my way to let them know.
-
Read between the lines, what they are really saying is they don't trust you to do a good job when they aren't about
and would prefer to be at home when your cleaning just to make sure you don't take short cuts or miss the odd window out.
With Granville's reputation I don't blame them.
Dump and forget. ;D
-
I would say to just dump and don't go back.
There may be a good reason to try to keep the job (e.g. in the middle of a row of houses) but faiing that, forget 'em.
This fails both the "bad business" and the "take it personally" tests :) .

Tell them many of our customers who pay by cheque send a cheque for several months to make their life simpler and save postage.
We started suggesting this and many of ours have done exactly that.

Guys they want to be at home when Gold is cleaning them its as simple as that, I have had a few like that they think
your business revolves around them.
Never go out of your way for messers as its the road to nowhere, they have been given the payment options which in my
opinion are more than fair, its up to them if they want to stay on his books or find somebody who will jump through hoops for them.
