Hi Folks,
Anyone know of a venturi effect style chemical dispensing valve that could sit outside Portable Machine. Or how it can be made?
It could be the first thing the water goes through as it comes out of the pump/machine before you put your solution line in to it.
Surely it can't be too complicated... 2x Quick Connects, the Valve, flow control numpty and uptake tube?
Any ideas?

i think mytee fit to the LTD range ...

I tried using my inline sprayer for this purpose with the lance taken off, I fitted a QC to fit my solution line too. It did'nt work as it restricted the flow too much to use with a 3 jet wand.
I don't know a portable that offers this option which tends me to think theirs a reason ( that being it can't be done)

There is nothing wrong with running chemical through pumps, did it for years and pumps lasted as long as anyones. What does knack them is leaving chemical in if the machine is idle for a while. If its used everyday then no problem. Flush it through with clean water every night after last job or at least the last night before the weekend. If its going to be standing a while such as holidays or its a spare flush it through after use.

Hi John, Will a venturi work before the pump?
-
.... or will the bypass suck all the chemical in as the water is recirculated when the wand is not in use?
-
Answered my own question there really ;D
Seems the only way to do it is to dose it on the way in with an auto fill using something like a venturi or a doseatron or to just measure it out when using a porty as a porty.
The mytee is only doseable when being auto fed.

Yeah the question was really about speeding things up when cleaning, so that you don't have to come back to machine to put some rinse in the tank periodically. Also was thinking if it was 'post pump' externally you would save some rinse albeit a very small amount. You know the bit you didn't quite need to use from the in-tank.
I think maybe the problem is that the one way valve needed would have to be strong to stop pressure going through the Venturi when not using pump. But what do I know.
Seen something on eBay that may work on the hozelock water feed, maybe that's the closest I'll get.

If you want to add chemical into your machine as it auto fills the only reliable way is to use a dosatron which gives an incredibly accurate dilution, I use one to put chemical into my waterfed pole
This arrangement

Why are you using chemical with your water fed pole Mike?
-
It's for Facia, soffits and conservatory roofs, just putting together my kit so practicing with various methods.
No money in using it for window cleaning :-\
-
Its easier to use a pump up sprayer and a separate water fed pole with a jet on the end rather than a brush. Spray up the chems then rinse off with a water fed pole. Having said that, for rinsing it is much more effective, quicker and easier to use a pressure washer with a carbon fiber telescopic lance. If you haven't done much upvc cleaning be careful not to let the chems dry on the surface especially any glass as it can be a pig to clean off after.

Robin, have you experience of clean conservatory roofs?
Thinking of buying one of these, do you think it would be useful?
I was thinking of getting up high and using brushes rather than the WFP, I Can see it being a good selling point

Looks like a good useful bit of kit but the biggest problem will be getting it round to most conservatory's and positioning it. I think you will find it impossible to use on many.
I just use a waterfed pole and a ladder or step ladder to get up high wen i need to. A pressure washer is great for cleaning the finial along the top, as its the hardest bit to get the moss an algae off of, I use one of these http://www.streamlinesystems.info/products/high-pressure-washing/2/highline%E2%84%A2-high-pressure-telescopic-lance-4-sections-25-foot-reach/50/ (http://www.streamlinesystems.info/products/high-pressure-washing/2/highline%E2%84%A2-high-pressure-telescopic-lance-4-sections-25-foot-reach/50/) . A pressure washer is useless for the rest though as it blows up inside.

Thanks for post guys. Thanks Mike for picture.
That Dosatron is quite expensive, i was wondering about giving one of these a pop..

Would fit hozelocks to 3/4" BSP fine.....

I have tried one and couldn't get it to work. Its a shame as it would have been perfect.
-
why didn't it work Robin?
Is the intake a bit weak vs water hose pressure?
-
I think the spring was a bit too strong for the water flow pressure.
-
oh.... so intake too strong in fact
