I spoke to a window cleaner recently and he told me 50 litre per day should be enough. I been looking around for what to buy and saw this:

I'm thinking getting 2 more maybe 3 of them and I will be using wagtail as well. Hope they're enough

Don't waste you money on the tap lids as they are too slow at filling your bucket just buy the same with a ordinary lid.
Slightly cheaper also.

thats good point, thank you. Do you think 3 is enough?

Should be, but you can always fill up at a customers property if you need to, I know a few traditional guys that don't carry
any of their own water.
A window cleaning bucket with a lid can also help as you wont have to empty your bucket every time you move to a new
location which will be a lot when starting out.
Will also save on detergent.
-
Change water cleaning trad? This is a new concept to me, why would you need to change the water? ;D

+1 ..........was trad for around 20yrs prior to moving over to WFP and i never took spare water, just as said above just ask customer or use there outside tap.
i would keep whatever soap i was using in a small screw top bottle so that i always had soap on hand to add to fresh water, i would just chuck the bottle in the bucket with the water, hence screw top

I've been a trad window cleaner now for 2 years and not once have i ever during a full day added more water or soap detergent to a bucket filled with 10L of water. I start each morning with bucket filled with 10L of water and fill the bottom of the bucket with lots of Fairy/Ecover.
Whats the point in changing? The water + soap detergent is only used to wet/lubricate the glass and loosen the dirt so that the squeegee can blade it all off. Technically aslong as you have enough "slip" or "glide" from using a detergent then it doesn't matter if the water is clean or dirty as it won't be staying on the glass.
Done this for 2 years and not had one single complaint from the way i clean windows :):):)

I carry a 25 litre barrel of water in the van in case I need to change it after a particularly dirty first clean etc.
I get through most days without having to change it, but I know it's there if I need it. Customers are quite surprised that I carry my own, and as water charges have now been introduced here ( an extremely sensitive political issue) they're also impressed with my initiative.

In that case I will just get one water barrel and a bucket with lid. My initial concern was that sometimes not many people will be at home.
I thought you have to change water each time
You clean

Naaah!
Used to change mine when:
Too many flaky bits of paint from old windows floating in it.
The water looked black instead of grey.
Seeing bits of grit on the applicator.
Seriously - 5 litres in the bucket and a spare 5 litres is more than enough - especially when you can use outside taps.
-
I think my initial concern is that the terraced houses whichout a tap. Im based in London and im assuming most of the time no one will be in the house to allow me to use their water
-
I rarely added to my water during the day. Maybe if doing leaded work but not from squeegee stuff. The water doesn't get that dirty with just the occasional dab from an applicator. So long as you don't squeeze out cloths in it etc., there's no issue.
I would just lay a scrim on top of the water bucket in the footwell. So ong as you don't have too much in, it won't slop over.

if getting low u can always pee into the bucket ;)
-
Wow I go to all the trouble of wfp and filtering water and what have u, and the trad guy who does houses on my street just cleaned 2 houses and a conservatory with 1 cloth!!!!!!!!!!!! unbelievable, this guys been doing it years.... He's got it good! 8)

I carry a spare can of water for odd time when I kick bucket over or had a busy day and water getting low (only start off with5L in bucket or to heavy to carry about all day ) or water looks to filthy
-
i usually half fill my bucket twice in a week with pure.thats how little trad i do these days! ;D
-
Not for me guys, I do a lot of trad and easy use more than 150 litres a day, all commercial so no probs getting water.
I keep my bucket inside a crate so any spills from the bucket are collected inside and can easy be emptied as and when needed
-
150 l ? thats a lot .found if you have a bit of wood about the size of bottom of bucket it stops the water sloshing about as much
-
Yes mate easy fill the bucket up to very near the top at least 7 times a day,
Using a 30l bucket, do a lot more trad than wfp
-
I would want a trolley to move that about all day
-
It's in the back of the van, pull up at location and out comes the bucket
-
Your middle names not Arnie is it my limit is lifting 25l barrels without carrying them all day
-
No mate, but I should imagine they would weigh about the same, I pull up, lift bucket out carry bucket to where am working, put it on floor and crack on
If working outside using a pole then it dont last very long
-
150L per day? :o
Thats alot
btw, anyone carry their bucket onto the top of the ladder on here? ;D
-
