Wel yes, but I really meant it from the other angle i.e. those of us who have 0800 numbers for our businesses will no longer fear that potential customers will be put off calling them from a mobile.

Evening Owen do you think there is a need for 0800 numbers now with all the free minutes etc people get with Vodaphone etc....Alan(Swindon)

no I think theres no need for us
if there is customer choosing you becouse you have 0800 then probably you dont want this customer realy, normal landline should do the job

When I am looking for a local company I automatically ignore those with 0800 numbers and go for the ones with local dialling code.  Just saying...

what if the areas you cover have 4 different "local" dialling codes, in my areas there are places quite close together but with different codes, so using an 0800 number gets rid of that problem, I cant remember how many people that have said, if I knew you were coming from 10/15 miles away then I would have phoned someone more local, (even if the local guy is a muppet?), I know people want to deal local, but how close IS local, I think anything within a 25 mile radius is pretty local, anyhow I use 0800 no's and they have served me well. so if they are going to be free for all to use then even better.  ;D
