This is my connection from my 250l tank, but I can't get a normal garden hose on it as the hose is to big anyone have any suggestions the hose size is 1/2

This is better imo - http://www.purefreedom.co.uk/large-tank-outlet-fittings-kit.html
But if you really want it in the fitting you have then put the end of the hose in some hot water to make it supple, and then work it onto the barb fitting you have...
Depends on how much bigger the barb is though to how easy/possible it'd be though

Plus, screw on a suitably sized jubilee clip.

Use a John Guest style fitting instead and the appropriate size of tubing?

We've got these on all our tanks, never have any problems.

Ptfe wrap the barb to give it more girth then pop hose on & jubilee clip it.
