You have to get them to see you as someone that can solve thier problem and are a proffesional well established firm with experiance .
The one letter posting will soon get tedious

car boots? :o
Radek
Have you ever looked in the car park at car boots over half are brand new cars retired wealthy pepole
-
must check it out
car boots i was were a fu..k crap, loads of cheap stuff and people with no money
so after dissapointment I stopped visiting those places
-
Car boots - where else can you sell something brand new with tags worth £50+ for 50p to be met with the offer 'will you take 30p?'
::)roll
-
yeah scrap the car boot idea. Fully of poor or tight people.
-
I think the original question was about 'commercial' work, which it is highly unlikely you will pick up at a car boot sale.

No wonder the amount of cc that post on here has dropped so much in the last year .
I posted a list of different avenues of gaining work the point being visability , if customers don't see you are trading then they can't call you .
The last 3 commercial jobs I've done have all come from a secretarys of office manager all women . All who told me they booked because they had seen the van about and googled the no .
If jonny thinks he will get work with a leaflet on its own then good luck to him because his website is not up to the standard commercial or professionals expect .
If you want to make a lot of money you need to be
Liked
Trusted
And respected .
And oh move to a more populated and prosperous area that would help .

Hi niel

I no what im saying may sound harsh but if you want to succeed ,then you have to have multiple avenues of marketing .
Mike has nearly got it right His van gives him high profile you cant miss it he then continues with the van on his website with a photo of him and his son his branding is working family man that can be trusted as his van is always about leaflets sent out by the thousands ,pepole that own or manage business are the same people that live in the houses that you do domestic work for.
Your website ranks well for your area update it ,it will only cost between £100-£150 a year for a drag and drop website do separate pages for domestic ,commercial ,upholstery etc link it to youtube channel , fb ,twitter etc print recommendations/testimonials .
Take a week off and sort it all out it will pay you tenfold .
Be known as the local carpet cleaner try to concentrate within 12 miles if possible I know mike used to be 4 miles
Dont listen to negative people who only have criticism to give without helping you they don't want you to succeed as it makes them feel bad . they are the ones who have no address on their websites and no photos of them, only off their legs ,when they are set up like that it makes me think they are dodgy so customers must think the same
years ago I had a colour leaflet that mike had done at trade print photo of me on the front about 10 x 6 said on it
Who I was
Where I lived
Local no
What i could do for them
Offered a local discount
Multiple room offer .
What I done for others recommendation
100% guarantee
The leaflet looked as cheesy as they come but has outperformed any other leaflets i,ve ever used because it came across as honest people buy people.

NEARLY!! NEARLY!! .........What do you mean I've nearly got it right. 8) 8)
I have the exact business I aimed for. extremely local, high priced, busy all the time & a basic turnkey operation. :)
The 2nd best business decision I ever made was the ' keep it local ' and realising there was enough quality customers within 4 miles of my home to keep me in work for ever
-
Mike has 'nearly' got it right again (always room for improvement Mike :P)
In over forty years of trading there are still several areas in my City that I have never set foot in....some I wouldn't want to.
Most of my work was within a four to six mile radius of my home with odd little clusters of customers outside....many people still have the perception they will pay more if you have to travel... sometimes this may be true
-
Mike
You know I'm only checking your awake .
I say nearly because you still have to advertise heavily on adwords and still do leaflets .
The only reason after all these years of being in business locally that you don't get enough repeat work is a few reasons that I can think of
Your so dear once they have realised how much they have paid you they don't ring back
Your follow up and staying in touch marketing isn't working
Or my favorite your greedy
Your a work aholic .
Ps jonny

hi guys,
didnt mean to get a bit of a heated debate going on sorry, but everyone has their own thing and what they feel happy doing, im going to be putting the leaflets ive done so far in the high end streets in my area to see what reaction i get, im hammering it at the moment on facebook sharing and liking stuff and friending people i dont even know just to get noticed. i dont live in the posh parts, its more like benefit streets( not that bad really). but i will be canvessing these in a different way and the student/landlords 9 miles away i will canavs a different way again, but i will learn by my mistakes, i will come on this forum for advise because i know the wealth of experience that this forum and its members have and will take everyhting on board
thanx jonny
