Title: well. i have learnt my lesson
Post by: keyser soze on May 23, 2015, 09:31:01 pm
i just tried to mentor a guy just trying to break into window cleaning , he was down on his luck having just been sacked from the london underground . and lost his licence to drink /driving . he decided whilst waiting to get his licence back, he would get set up ,so  i took him to buy a van with wfp system already installed . gave him all sorts of advice . etc etc. anyway in the mean time i was trying to secure a contract. ( quiet a biggie).possibly worth thousands which i discussed with him and he's only gone behind my back and approached the company and tried to muscle in. just taught me a  big big lesson ''don't trust anyone'' and its the last time i offer help to my potential competitors

I read it that the OP took a disqualified driver to get a van.

Sacked from London Underground and drunk driver, tells you everything about his character.

But some see everything as fair game in biz. Perhaps it would have been better to just show him the mechanics of window cleaning rather than chit chat over potential money making contracts ?

Hopefully as your potential customer rang you, his tender has been ruled out

Also agree with Darran, a bit anyway.

I have helped guys setup and gave them equipment ect,  but I would never discuss a job or jobs that am after unless I have them tied up, I think that's where you went wrong.

It's one thing helping a guy out, but if your going to feed him your leads at some point he's guna think he can cut you out.

I have loads of jobs am interested in, and some that I have discussed possible prices with, but I wouldn't go shouting from the roof tops what they are until I have sewn it up.

And then the world can know.

yes i took him to get a van but all legit he got delivered to his house via a loader. yeah i did discuss the job because its a big contract and I' can't do it by myself and i thought i could use him .i think he fancies himself as a middle man where he takes it on and subs it out . this contract is  very big ,

Not mentioned in the original post, and with the lack of integrity that this guy has already demonstrated, am I the only one who doesn't believe that?

The one thing you can expect from someone with a history of poor decisions is more poor decisions.

Not so sure about that.  Some learn from mistakes and some don't.

So he has bought a van all kitted out, no licence, no customers, no-one to help him to get started now! What a success he's going to be! You're well out of it mate.

yeah to summarise he's got a vauxhall van with a 250 litre system in thats got extremely  high tds . he's banned and hasn't got a clue how to even purify the water.his wife works at a local hotel(de vere one)and she's got inside info from the manager about the window cleaning and carpet cleaning and under cut existing windies . he's very aggressive in his approach to finding work

A failure waiting to happen then. Wouldn't wish this on anyone nicer!
