I came up with the solenoids idea a few years back. Biggest issue was the size of 12V solenoids. A week before the show i came across a 6v version DOH! I could have knocked something up if i would have researched more.

However i have a meeting with a supplier to hopefully unload all my ideas and let them research them.

Looking forward to this product!

Xline seem to be the only company pushing things forward!

Why? when a tap does the job.  ???

Some things never make any sense to me. A tap on the brush is one I have never fathomed out in eight years of wfp too.

Another point : What weight would it be ?

Anything on the top of the pole makes a light brush head feel not so light any more.

If it was super light though i would consider.

You'd have to try it to see the real benefits of things like aquadaptor and aquataps, they not only make like easier but save so much water and time, they allow you to use a much higher flow rate too

Yes - brilliant work smoother, last longer and more reliable than the aquadaptor  ;D

rather have it on connection from hose to pole hose to reduce weight at top of pole. Hope Solenoid is strong to cope with to use with a certain product that I wont name that made my aquatap stick

Why not next to the pump in the van or on the trolley? It would eliminate what could be the biggest problem of battery life.

Can someone explain to me why anyone would want one please?

That's just the same as a remote. Only difference is on/off would be instant. The idea with this is so that the signal is from you to the top of the pole. Not from you to the van.

To turn the water off then on then off. Repeat until you understand ;)

Tuuurn theeee waterrrrr offfff and onnnnnnn .......
Oh I get it! So spend a load of money on something that does the same thing as a valve or tap. Add some weight to the pole. Reach in your pocket for the key fob every time you want to use it , change batteries when it goes flat etc.
Brilliant! I want one.
Except I'd need three - one for every pole.

Hahaha.....

The remote bit is the downside for me....

Go on get one, you know you want to...

Makes me laugh when I see taps at the brush head - who's got 30 foot arms to switch it on and off?
All that water peeing out when you extend the pole and still peeing out until you retract it again!
More laughable when the ones who use it are always complaining about the cost of resin etc..

Been using a tap at the brush end for around 4/5 years. Perfect setup for me.

its very light, had a feel at the show, you can recharge it, small usb port on the side, i think its less than 66 grams, which is the weight of a  flow control valve, i think Aquataps are 88 grm............like all things im sure it will have its place in the market

Post by: NWH on May 17, 2015, 12:30:58 pm
I really don't know why anyone would need anything like this,if you really need to save water just pinch the hose on the pole. I was once silly enough to try an aqua adapter,I put it on the pole and raised the pole and once I realised it felt like a brick in the end I took it off and sent it back. Even the bloke from Aqua adapter said they are working on the material used as he said they are noticeable on the end of the pole

I think someone should invent a brush with 100 electric toothbrushes on the end; would save loads of scrubbing.

That's what I can't get my head around - pull up start the water squirting then extend the pole - all the time water is pumping out everywhere. Scrub the glass (can't shut the water off for the vents or open window) rinse down then squirt all over the brickwork to the next window. Custy comes out to pay you so you lean the pole against the top window and pump another five litres all down the wall? What happens on five stories you must get soaked extending the pole up.
Is that how it works?

If you want to stop the water flow for a few seconds, kink the hose. Stop for a few minutes, disconnect the pole hose from the main hose. Simple.
Title: Re: New pole tap
Post by: Smudger on May 17, 2015, 01:39:36 pm
You can't  kink the hose and keep 2 hands on the pole,  a normal tap on the brush head is a waste of time, tried it for a while, but those that turn off by either pulling pole hose or even better twisting the pole save loads of water and allows you to wipe over a sill without the water running.

Was there not some sort of remote that switched the pump on and off a while back and also turned the flow
up and down.
I think that's the way I would  go if my tap on holster wasnt so easy to use and cheap.

No that's an analogue pump controller with remote on and off. You can't use the remote to turn flow up and down. With a one shot you can.

The controller in the video is made buy a guy called Richard.

The only advantage of using Aqua taps, Aqua dapter, triggers and taps is water saving. With my way i have 5 grams of weight added to the pole brush head and waste more water. I don't care about wasting water. I care about weight.

The only method that i would look into it tap and holster. Does not appeal to me at all.

I love the idea it is so light as well I use both aqua dapter and the tap but I think this could be the answer as the others are not fall proof  (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1431877208_10409682_10204216169789192_3456086985863195865_n.jpg)

Tap in a holster works for me. Fitted between pole hose and reel hose. Used t for over five years now.

(I did have a remote from Peter Fogwill on my trolley system - it switched on OK but due to electrical interference from the pump would not switch off if any further than about six feet away.)

Simples.

I've been using a remote for about 6 years. It turns the pump on/off. The remote is on a carabina attached to a belt loop on my trousers.

The battery in the remote lasts well over a year.

It cost a fortune as well. About £20 or less off FleaBay.

It's simple complicated, you know, pushing a half inch diameter button that's right next to your hand already.

I can't see any real advantage in a solenoid on top of the pole except that the water would stop instantly. At the end of the day you would have maybe saved half a litre of water. Whoppeeeeee.

I use 5mm streamline so I can shut the doors.

My pump, controler, etc, can be left in the van and used as a van mount or stuck on top of a barrel on a trolley. One pump, etc,  and the best of both worlds.

The remote I use will work all the way around about 80% of houses I do. For places where I know it won't, either it doesn't matter as I'm going straight from window to the next, etc, or I just kink the hose and use the pressure switch on the pump.

Some places it easier and quicker just to use the trolley as I can have it set up in under a minute because I made it myself to work customised to just how I wanted it to be used.

I have two receivers worked by one fob. One receiver is on the roof of the van and the other is on the trolley system which is never far away when used.
