anyone got one? i know a lot of people think ionics are overpriced but interested in how this new parts per billion is any better ppm.
is it really worth spending the extra money on, apparently better cleaning power and faster cleaning but how much faster can you be compared to a heated system and some additives like vision (not starting another vision debate) ;D

Its complete, 100% marketing BS and makes very little real world difference at all. Vision or a heated system would provide a much better performance increase for a tiny fraction of the cost.
The math is simple - say your tap TSD is 300 and your standard parts per million filters take it down to 001 (Lets hope they do better than that!) then your cheap standard system removers 299grams of dissolved solids for every 1000 litres.
The expensive PPB system will remove 300grams of dissolved solid per 1000 litres - performing 0.3% better that a badly maintained normal system. Do you think that 0.3% improvement will be noticeable in the real world - or is it just a case that more sensitive TDS meters will cause you to change your resin & filters more often????

Anyone supporting this over specked system by Ionics is a publicity stunt and will make no difference to the results on the glass. All you could claim is you have the most advances system money can but. It will only have a willy waving advantage to its owner. Saying this its has become a sign of the time on this forum to claim you own the best equipment as if it some how makes you a better result. Contrary to this fashionable belief having a system minimum spec and getting results is still the best system.
We fan on high pricing by these over spec equipment by boosting our egos and allowing the manufacturer to over price even more.
Treating equipment produces as gods is not in the interest of our industry.

thought as much, i commented on a post on facebook saying what this system do that a normal 40/40 ro system cant and got willy wavers laughing at me raving about ppb, i dont think its really possible to clean faster, you still gotta scrub and rinse lol

Been using PPB for 4/5 years.
Would I pay for a system to make it. Hell no.

I'm pretty sure they must exist in some form because I understand that drug manufacturers work to ppb standards with the water that helps make their drugs. So I suppose they must have a way of measuring it.

i spoke to ionics at the show and asked the question regarding PPB, his answer was it wouldn't be noticeable on regular domestic cleaning, it was more suited for commercial work were it was cleaned say once a year, the extra purity of the water would come into play and save time

Filtering the water serves one purpose and that's to remove anything that will show up on the glass after it dries, so all the PPB system will do is remove more than you need removed to complete the job.
As I have said again and again there will always be somebody in this game trying to sell you something that serves no useful
purpose.
